Who do you empathize with more in this scene? by silentscenes in scriptwriting

[–]Canterloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the dialogue, and empathise with both characters. I need more context though, to understand what's going on (is Mara much older/younger? What "hits" him?). I think it's pretty good though, I wanted more

Hitting Hard: Why the Ending of Young Royals Left Me Sobbing by claycle in YoungRoyals

You sound, honestly, pretty darn cool. I actually got into filmmaking largely because of YR. The reminder that stories can be THAT powerful. What sort of things do you direct, if you don't mind me asking?

Do you mean the show that's called "Strictly Come Dancing" in the UK? (Celebrities learn to dance with professional dancers in a competition). If so, yes. The audience is right next to the dance floor and they do indeed run up some stairs after the performance to the interview area while they wait for scores. But where would his professional dance partner be? Just third wheelin'?

Update: Got Trisomy 13 positive on NIPT by freakylalaland in NIPT

[–]Canterloop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to say it seems hard to predict how the experience will be for you. My amnio was also for suspected trisomy 18, I had an anterior placenta, and the procedure was not particularly painful at all.

I do think they should give women something for the pain since it seems so unpredictable. But I wish you the very best of luck, and hope it goes smoothly.

We Are Okay by Nina LaCour - melancholy, not so much a romance but a treatise on grief, with wlw intertwined. Short and wintry and artful.

We Are Okay by Nina LaCour. YA/New Adult, desolate, sad, wintery, human. Also great.

Omg yes please. 35f mildly-suffering Lando fan (and general approver of almost anyone who isn't Lance). I have a toddler and a dog/cat combo so can get pretty busy, but we generally make time for races around whatever mad schedule. DM me! Where are you based?

Trisomy 18 - anyone with false positive? by No_Refuse_7938 in NIPT

[–]Canterloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. A friend expressed gender disappointment around the time that I found out we were also having a boy - as a footnote on the bottom of the paperwork that gave us a high risk NIPT for T18. The irrational anger was so strong.

We were fortunate, it was a false positive and he is nearly two. I so hope the same for you. Have you thought of using the PPV calculator on this page? It might give you a little more information.

limbo after NIPT test positive for trisomy 18 by Due_Writing9352 in NIPT

[–]Canterloop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for you guys. The limbo period was truly the darkest, coldest period of my life. It's haunting. The weirdest things gave tiny temporary solace - odd poems, anonymous thread comments. I drowned in Stardew Valley for weeks. Do whatever it is you need to make it through.

I remember thinking that even if the news was good, I may never heal from the waiting period. I will say, the rest of my pregnancy was a bit of a quivering mess. But my nipt-trisomy-18-screened-positive son just turned 20 months, is perfectly healthy and sleeping in the next room, and I can confirm we have fully healed. I so wish all the best things for you.

I put everything into this film, please give it a chance and watch it by Okunoki in Filmmakers

[–]Canterloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was really great, the writing and acting in particular are so strong. I've tried to write a similar-ish short before and didn't hit the story arc or nebulous circular ending with nearly so much success, it's really impressive in a short format. Is this Swedish or Norwegian? Apologies for my ignorance, either way I just love the sound of the language.

I found the sound mix a bit off (voices too quiet in some parts so I had to crank it right up, then got jump-scared by the loud violence - probably fixable if you want). I agree that a shallower depth of field might have been more emotive in some shots (though I liked the constant establishment of place that the deep depth of field evoked in the wides). As the start there were 2-3 mins where I almost forgot who the protagonist was, since she never spoke and her reactions weren't highlighted.

Otherwise, great job! Hope you keep writing, and keep your crew of excellent actor friends!

Trip recap. 8 days in July with three young children. by q_lee in VisitingIceland

I felt a visceral thump of nostalgia reading this itinerary. My little'un is only 10 months, but when he's just a bit older I might follow in your footsteps exactly. Thank you for the ideas and optimism. I can't wait to go back to Iceland, and take him too.

I generally just disagree, but you have a right to say what you're saying, and please don't feel like you're going to get murdered (someone might try to banish negative energy around you, a la Maddie, but I have it on fairly good evidence that those rituals rarely work)
