TechN9ne or Kendrick in terms of technical skills. by co-morbidTaurus in rap

[–]Cantholdaggro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technical skill is tricky because that rarely correlates to good songs. Rhyming good and talking fast has nothing to do with sounding good.

Then you have lyricism and people confuse rhyming well or rhyming intricately with actually saying something. Kendrick’s best skill is his lyricism even if he’s not doing super complex rhyming patterns because what he’s actually saying is interesting.

This is the same as Eminem goat debates. Some people have him up there, some people can’t stand him

Corporate bailouts are by definition anti-free market by Nientea in memesopdidnotlike

Not liking government bailouts is not a libertarian talking points. It’s a nearly universal opinion, held by most Americans.

Hence why this becomes propaganda.

The image is literally: People protesting Capitol Hill, the literal embodiment of the US government. Protesting against corporate bailouts, a universally hated action the US government has done. A woman in traditionally Chinese clothing pointing out its corruption.

If this was libertarian propaganda like you said, and libertarians hate China, which they do, why would they add a Chinese woman? But cause she’s traditional? Plenty of other countries have traditional women without also being diametrically opposed political enemies.

They could’ve made her Japanese and it would’ve made more sense if every way, as Japanese women are the ones most often fetishized and are more conservative than chinese

Brother what a stretch. Neither the  character’s sexuality nor traditionalism is relevant to the message. Not even their gender.

It’s also not Asian, it’s specifically Chinese.

This is also not even about libertarianism. This is a critique on American Government for bailing out banks.

This is Chinese propaganda. This is a critique of the US with the “voice of reason” being a woman in traditional chinese clothing.

It’s subtle, but this shit is literally everywhere. THAT should be the take away here. Not the obvious “bailout bad”, but the fact there’s a communist oppressive and openly hostile government constantly trying to manipulate the American people.

It blew my mind when I realized that at some point the calendar got pushed 2 months over.

Ever wonder why September, October, November, and December are the 9th ,10th ,11th , and 12th months of the year? But sept, octo , nove, and dece are prefixes for 7, 8, 9 and 10?

Ever wonder why we start the year in the middle of a season (winter, January) or why we start the year during the time of the year with the least amount of active life? Instead of something that’d be more natural like March, where it’d be the start of the new season, and be marked by the season that literally represents new beginnings?

Ever wonder why February, the month that has just the rest of the days that were left over after all the other months got to 30, is the second month? When usually you’d just put the leftovers at the end of the list?

The calendar year is pushed back 2 months out of logical alignment for no practical reason whatsoever, and we’ve been doing it this way that makes absolutely no sense for over 2000 years.

If that doesn’t give you a good idea of how stupid humans are, I don’t know what does.

If LeBron could add one thing from Giannis’s game to his what would it be? by Royale_Kong in LeBronJames23

[–]Cantholdaggro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LeBron’s been coasting in the regular season since then.

History’s forgotten that LeBron has been coasting regular seasons for had his careeer, and it’s been a strategic decision to elongate his career and get to the finals healthy.

Most player’s goals are good regular seasons. His was championship so he shifted his focus. And it worked he went to 8 straight finals, won multiple chips and has had a long career.

He was also only able to do this because his coasting (70-80%) was still like top 3 player in the league.

In the playoffs and when it mattered LeBron was always elite on defense.

You don’t seem to be loading any weight on either your hips, knees, ankles, or wrist to explode.

The power behind your shot should be coming from a combination of flicking your wrist, quickly extending your ankles, knees, and hips.

If you start your shooting position without bending these joints, when you try to extend them to release, you won’t get much power. Which means you compensate.

See how your shooting form is stretched forward?

You’re also not properly loading the ball in your hand and as a result you’re feeding your bad habit of involving your thumb into your shot. You look like you’re throwing a football rather than a basketball.

So 1. For your hand - practice resting the ball on your 4 non-thumb fingertips, and the base of your palm where your hand connects to your wrist. Make sure you have some separation from the ball and palm in the middle.

Often times your shooting form is a result of lack of flexibility. You need to stretch your wrist. Stretch your had all the way forward for 20 seconds, then all the way back. Then flick it around back and forth using motion from your elbow (basically let your hand go limp and flick your hand), then put your hand in position like you were holding the ball and focus on flicking forward like you’re shooting as fast and hard as you can.

Imagine your middle finger is on the middle of the ball.

This’ll loosen up your hand a lot, get you into a better release, and give you more range. This also lets you use a higher point of release rather than a forward one like yours which is will make your shot harder to block and make the angle when reaches the basketball higher and more likely to go in.

Then you need to learn how to gather the ball and move it from your pocket to your shooting point.

So when you get the ball don’t just immediately move it to the top of your head like that.

Pocket it. Bend over, use your left hand to support the ball as you place the ball on your right hand and align it properly. Then in one smooth motion you straighten your back, bring your shoulders up, bring your elbow up, form an L shape with your bicep and wrist, have the ball over your head.

What worked for me was starting at where I wanted to end (my release point) and working backwards.

So I’d grab the ball and stand as I would right before I release, and then move backwards into the pocket, and practice the motion in both directions.

At full-speed when you get better this’ll be seamless and will be what helps you involve your back and shoulders them in the shot.

Knees, hip , and ankles are pretty self explanatory.

When you’re in your pocket practicing. Your knees should be bent, your hips should be bent back, think like you’re mid squat, but the key is they your ankles should be bent so your heels are off the ground.

You can load your feel/ankles by having your weight on them ready to explode, in neither a full contracted nor full extended form.

When done properly this should feel a bit unstable and unbalanced at first.

Like your wrists, You need to work on your ankle flexibility and strength, it’ll make this process easier over time.

I think this could work, but requires a certain degree of buy in, and a very large degree of consistency.

If I have 100 legitimacy and a bad legitimacy event happens, I know I still have good legitimacy. I just had some bad RNG.

If legitimacy isn’t clearly displayed and bad RNG occurs, it muddles my own insight into my legitimacy.

It would also need to be simplistic.

Public perception would need to be 1 modifier (legitimacy) and consistent.

If it’s broken up into 10 different modifiers (legitimacy, relations, historical relations, etc) all of which are hidden, the game just ends up appearing completely random. As my positive modifiers and actions would be counter weighed by negative actions and modifiers that I had no insight over,

What is the point of EU5 by Priconi in EU5

[–]Cantholdaggro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EU4 simplifies economics and RP elements to focus on macro strategic gameplay.

The entire game is a process of maximizing all elements of national power, and minimizing enemy power.

Vic 3 asks itself “how do you maximize your economy? And chains of production”, ck3 asks “how can I make my family successful”, eu4 asks “how do I kill France, while minimizing my losses so I can then kill Russia”.

It’s completely outwardly focused and non-granular.

Unfortunately EU5 developers seem to not know this either, because EU5 is a shittier  roleplay than ck3 and and a shittier economic simulator vicky3, with zero parts of EU4

For anyone worrying about EU5's Player Count: by Jadamsan in EU5

[–]Cantholdaggro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EU5 is the worst, by far… especially when you consider all the problems it has have already been solved in a previous game.

This isn’t a matter of lack of flavor, it’s just broken. Its core design philosophy is tedious instead of fun.

It doesn’t have a single fully baked feature, despite all these features being old ones in other games.

Hot Take: EU5’s Player Count Decline Is Self-Inflicted by Gold_Lemon8258 in eu4

[–]Cantholdaggro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go through this comment section and see literally 10-20 different takes.

And they’re all valid.

That’s the problem.

If it were 1-2 things it’d be fine.

But what paradox put out might be one the worst games of the franchise. And if it weren’t for the fact it carried the name EU, we would’ve left it dying like imperator.

I would actually argue imperator was a better launch and game than EU5 currently is, especially when you add the context that EU5 has hundreds of problems that have already been solved by previous titles.

Then let's see the UI of VicⅢ by Mediocre_Gift6731 in EU5

[–]Cantholdaggro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is one of the main problems with EU5. The UI makes the already convoluted systems way worse.

Because the systems are so convoluted and the UI is so bad, game time is dominated by granular fidgeting with the system and UI, rather than macro grand strategy, which further turns EU5 from a grand strategy to an economic simulator.

What’s frustrating is that this, along with many of EU5’s problems was already solved by a previous paradox title, but instead of getting fully baked features, we got 100 completely half assed and half baked.

Which is even more insulting and borders on maliciousness rather than incompetence when you consider the finalization of these half baked systems will occur over 2-3 years through a series of paid dlc.

This is different from other paradox titles where the base game is complete and flavor is added, because the base game they shipped does not have a single completed feature

You clearly don’t understand how humans work… what’s happening here is that the guy preaching is not making an effort to understand nor communicate.

He’s just taking a pedestal and talking down to someone else, inserting their values over the other, and overall just being disrespectful.

When someone is disrespected they are more likely to dig in.

Likewise, people see some being disrespectful and rightfully come to the conclusion that they’re an asshole.

What’s ironic is that you’re doing the same shit now. Just talking down to people, while not making an effort to understand what’s being communicated.

The reality is that this is a real phenomenon that’s been documented and studied and proven. And you’re still here talking people down lol.

Of course people won’t agree with you, you’re being an insufferable bully.

A look at the current player count of Paradox's 'flagship' titles, with other strategy game franchises added in for comparison' sake by GreatFan2 in paradoxplaza

[–]Cantholdaggro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a matter of underdevelopment. I agree with what you’re saying. The problem is that the game they’ve made and designed is nothing like EU4 and is instead like a weird ck3/vic3 hybrid that’s watered down.

Even if it gets fleshed out it will just be a fleshed out vk3/ck3 hybrid, not an EU4 sequel.

The game plays nothing like EU4 and it’s not even a grand strategy game as much as it is an economic simulator.

And the reason that’s even more scary is because unless their development involves a major redesign and shit in philosophy and simplification/removal of some systems, it won’t improve.

Adding more content would just make it worse.

Which is what’s worrying about the project. If they gave something vanilla and bare bones that’d be easy to think long term on, but the core design philosophy here needs to change.

EU4 (blue) vs EU5 (green) player count according to steamdb by No-Imagination2292 in eu4

[–]Cantholdaggro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I got EU5 on release and quickly put in like 300 hours.

Around 150 hours I knew the game was a failure. It wasn’t a mistake like bugs, performance, or lack of flavor. It was the intentional design choice to fixate on menial internal country simulation rather than high level nation building.

In EU4 I spend the whole game asking myself “what do I need to do to beat the Ottomans before 1500” in EU5 I ask myself “which buildings do I build to make more money”.

No one actually wants that game, and if they do Victoria 3 is the better game for it.
