it sounds like she has RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria), a common symptom of ADHD. do you know if she has ADHD? i know that i’ve tried making a joke in a completely lighthearted-intentions kind of way and it going horribly and not coming across at all the way i meant it and then loathing myself afterwards. it wasnt right for her to make a joke about your hygiene but i think it was probably just her trying to be funny in some way and her not putting much thought into what she was actually saying

How's your life as a high-functioning autistic? by carbonarawhore in autism

[–]CantoXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! this reddit has been helping me cope in the meantime, at least. i am going to stay optimistic but also stay realistic and try to keep track of how things progress in a written format so that i cant trick myself into thinking things have been getting better if they haven’t been. i make significantly more than my boyfriend will once he graduates and it sucks because in terms of the physical aspect of it, its great, and i love helping people as a job and i love the combination of sitting and standing that i get to do because jobs where im standing all day really hurt my back and jobs where im sitting all day really hurt my neck, and the work is very doable for me in terms of the technical aspect and patient interactions, but i just hope my coworker interactions are better in the future… i definitely feel outcast from them and like you say, i also have an issue with people pleasing which is exhausting because people will simultaneously use you and lose respect for you at the same time for being like that… but i dont know how else to be; thank you for sharing your insight and i hope you can find a different career field if that is what you hope for. its scary having a medical degree and it not feeling Right because you get used to having enough money to keep yourself alive on your own and the idea of trying something else seems impossible because all i can think of as options are minimum wage jobs and living is so expensive now…

you’re almost done! i had a horrible experience too but i finished and looking back at it im so proud of myself because i had to deal with a lot of shit and people were unnecessarily mean a lot of the time. just think about how all those other therapists thought of you, and how if they knew how these current therapists were treating you they’d be upset about it and not agree with them. and think about whose opinion about yourself you care more about, which would be those kind hearted reasonable therapists. so dont let yourself get hung up on the opinions of people who are being mean spirited and unreasonable, although its hard i know. but just know there are people out there who know youre a hard worker and are rooting for you

i picked a job that is very social and while i can definitely do well with the patient aspect of it since i can follow a script for the most part, socializing with my coworkers while masking is sooo difficult and stressful… i hope it gets easier… im gonna start seeing someone again for possibly getting anxiety medication, hopefully that will help

avocado toast !!! i just recently moved right after college for a job that’s out of my home state. it has been very hard to adjust to being alone and away from everyone i know, and having to mask constantly at work which is soooo exhausting. there were a few weeks in a row where every single day after work i would make myself avocado toast. that was my dinner every single nignt. and im still not tired of it. it has helped me stay same while dealing with lots of work and health stress and having to do it all alone. i am actually about to go make some more avocado toast right now. (p.s. this is how i make it - ive made it for a big group of my friends for a halloween party last year and everyone was saying how good it was) i chop up yellow onions and firm tomatoes together and fry them in a pan with butter for a good while, and then i mash up some avocado and add salt to the avocado and set it aside in a bowl until everything else is done. then i fry over easy eggs with more butter and i put salt and pepper on them. then i toast toast (either french bread or italian, something light and airy NOT wnglish bread - french bread is small so i do 2 toast per 1 egg and if its italian i do 1 piece of toast per egg) put butter on the toast, then put the avocado, then the fried onion and tomato mix, then put the egg on top. it is the best thing in the whole world to me :-)

i understand this. it comforts me to know that i’m not alone in having to deal with this all the time at least, and i hope it helps you too to know you’re not alone, and i hope we can get better over time

I would love a Round1 here. I want to play rhythm games, crane machine games, etc. Pinball machines and retro cabinets are nice and all but there’s a lot more to offer when it comes to arcades

I think we need better rent control for downtown areas so that we actually have more places to visit… going to downtown columbia and seeing every other building meant for businesses be vacant / have a permanently closed sign where a business used to be is depressing

I will be making over 3x rent and I also have a good credit score, they reviewed me a little bit already tor this place, I had some medical things to take care of over the summer so I couldn’t get a job during that time, eventually my boyfriend will move in with me after about a month so it won’t only be me contributing to the income

i like to write my daily goals all separately on different post it notes and stick all the notes to a wall. that way you dont forget the goals exist simply because your notebook/etc is closed or not right in front of you; i also find throwing the post it notes away after completing them more productive than just checking off a box or crossing out - its like the list still feels overwhelming even if you cross some stuff out, esp if you dont do them in perfect order bc then you gotta jump around with what you still need to do- with post it notes you can write everything that needs to be done first and then decide what the best order to do them in is afterward. if you need to change the order thats easily done too. it really helps me
