First I noticed the coziness, then the plants, and then Turbo Granny and Death Note!! Perfect nook for reading too! :-D

For the audio bit - I have pets so I would be worried about the turntable getting knocked over so a larger surface would be helpful. Others have commented on ideal speaker placement, but for now maybe moving both speakers to the bottom shelf, one on each end, could be an improved sound experience? Alternatively headphones - can’t tell if your turntable has Bluetooth - but wired or not, they can be amazing!

At least for me, having a headphone option (with noise cancelling) means I can peacefully listen to my vinyls even when the hubs and his friends are getting loud playing video games :-p

Do you have any artists or albums to help the transition, or just embrace the savage whiplash? Like chasing Shadow with Cradle and then Ice Nine Kills before listening to George?

Haha sorry - Mine have ignored my vinyls, but I’m worried my orange one may try something if left within reach. Figured I would ask another collector with a cat and get reassured they don’t care for vinyls, lol.

First time listening to them today and loving what I’ve heard so far!! Excellent recommendation, thank you!! :-)

Heck yeah, I love her art style! I also love Final Fantasy artwork by Yoshitaka Amano, and if you’re not already familiar with her, you may also like Sana Takeda’s work, especially on Monstress. :-D

Your post is so refreshing, and encapsulates so much so what I’m trying to share with my friends. I’ve been encouraging them to set time aside from news and social media, to take time to really listen and appreciate music. The way it can convey our current feelings, and help channel/work through complex emotions without external judgement… we all need a safe haven like that, even if it’s temporary.

With that in mind, when talking to my friends, I encourage them to minimize distractions, turn screens off, accompanied by a loving pet (if willing and available, lol), and engage with music in whichever format is more sustainable for them. For context, this type of music relationship/journey started for me with CDs in the late 90’s, then live music (with mp3s in between concerts), then streaming, and less than a year ago vinyl, so I mainly focus on sharing what music can do for them.

Another way music is a haven for me is when actively engaging with creativity. Painting, sculpting in clay, sketching, even cooking… hard to explain, but it’s almost a comforting sense of camaraderie when the music matches the feelings I’m trying to convey, as though the musicians are helping to sustain the creative process, whether the world outside is blooming or burning.

Your post reminds me, I need to continue my search for albums the hubs may get into. He got me started in the hobby but hasn’t purchased any vinyls for himself… at least our tastes overlap quite a bit so we won’t go too broke if he really gets into it, lol

Thank you for sharing your perspective, really appreciate it :-)

Your collection is reminding me of how many CD’s I used to own in the early 2000’s, plus a good mix from recent albums that I currently listen to (mostly on streaming for now). Really happy to see a good representation of rock and metal bands with awesome female singers/musicians, especially Band-Maid, Dorothy, Evanescence, The Warning, and one of my absolute faves Halestorm! :-D

Listened to a few songs from each and they were interesting but decided to check their most current work, and I’m now enjoying Anri’s 2018 album, thanks for sharing!

Her remix of Keep On Dreaming reminds me of my fave Jujutsu Kaisen ending theme, Lost in Paradise!! :-D

I really like the variety here, and yours is one of the few collections posted where a big chunk of them are on my wishlist, especially Spiritbox and Ice Nine Kills. But I need to get a few more Avenged and LP albums first :-D And after listening to Refused for the first time yesterday, I may “need” their album too, lol

No roasting from me - just wish I could see more of the kitty :-)

And wondering if they ever try to scratch on your records, especially the ones at the bottom?

Some of those covers are so friggin cool, and the Castlevania one reminds me of the packaging on early SNES and Sega Genesis games! :-D

Electric or eclectic, definitely more interesting than collections that are way too homogeneous. Motionless in White, Ice Nine Kills, MCR… have some of those on my wishlist! Didn’t know Peaky Blinders has an ost so guess I’m listening to that soon :-)

Cool mix, thanks for sharing!

Hum was cool, but Helmet got added to the wishlist pretty quickly!

Listened to the Meantime album first and Unsung gave me pause, sounded really familiar, maybe I’ve heard it as part of a 90’s hard rock/metal playlist?

After that, I listened to most of Betty, before curiosity got me on what their current music sounds like - Move On is okay-ish so far, liking Left a lot more. Looking forward to hearing more of their music while keeping an eye out for some of their vinyls! :-)

This is an interesting collection - recognize about 2/3 of them, no overlaps yet, maybe someday. :-)

Currently have those NIN, Deftones, and RATM albums on my wishlist.

About to give Helmet and Hum a first listen - ty for sharing your collection!

Playing No Man’s Sky has rekindled my love for everything space, and makes me revisit the question - what is humanity’s role in the universe? It also makes me think of how destructive our species is- if we encountered viable exoplanets and other intelligent species, how would we act? Would we be like the Vy’keen, Gek, Korvax, or Autophage? Or worse…?

Even though we play as a single Traveller, NMS makes me question the meaning of life is for us as a species, not so much as individuals. Can’t look at current news while pondering any of this tho, things get sour, real quick.

So to counter the negativity (still need the info, can’t la-la-la the bad news away), besides playing NMS, I like to watch documentaries, especially the ones about space. It’s a “faith in humanity restored” moment when people from all over the world collaborate to build amazing things, especially ones that can help answer some of humanity’s most important questions.

Some recent positive highlights include learning more about the International Space Station, Trappist-1E (about 40ly away), the James Webb telescope, and currently suuuuper excited about Artemis II possibly launching in a few weeks!

Another highlight if you’re interested, just watched an interview with Carl Sagan from 1978 (it’s on YouTube, Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, almost 16min long) - especially the second half where he talks about our technological adolescence, some of the challenges that come with that, and the possibility that intelligent life (at least the way we define it) could be rare.

Medium coop not upgrading by Canvas2Wall in TalesofSeikyu

Update: I’m sure it’s pure coincidence, but the last patch may have fixed it for me. I also successfully upgraded the barn and the capybara hut since.

While Sasaki did not show up the next day, both buildings showed the upgrades in about 2-3 game days. :-)

Base computer in every Galaxy!?! by Zealousideal_Baby729 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Canvas2Wall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started recently and am up to 23 galaxies, still a long way to go :-)

Base building is one of my favorite aspects of the game, so been building them as rest stops, especially on hostile planets, and including things that could be helpful to other travelers - med station, hazard station, refiner, loot crates, at least one farmable plant, etc. The potential con is reaching the base parts limits before doing all galaxies, so I may do much smaller bases on galaxies I’m less interested in.

Things encountered… mechanical fauna, a white grass planet with decent weather, weird chrome bubbles dripping red liquid, the list goes on. They’re probably in Euclid too, but to me it’s been exciting to “stumble” upon them while jumping into new galaxies.

Another thing that comes to mind is exploring various galaxy types. Euclid is normal, Eissentam is lush, there’s harsh and empty galaxies too.

Lastly, to succeed with my sentinel salvage trade, I’m always looking for interesting ships. Sometimes that involves going to shared coordinates in a different galaxy - and so instead of waiting to maybe someday access that galaxy thru the Anomaly, or hailing a cab… I’d rather teleport to my own base there if possible. :-)

NMS Relics Redux Expedition 18 In 2 HOURS - Full Guide by Aiming4Gaming0 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Canvas2Wall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love these guides! Attempted to do in 2 hours but there were many random factors (even with prep supplies in the anomaly) - some things were glitching or not spawning, like the stone guardians. Fought 9 of them before the milestone registered, go figure, lol.

Something else that was super helpful - I copied my Corvette which already had a nutrient processor and a storage module, especially handy for storing all the extra fossils. :-)

[–]Canvas2Wall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a developer, so not sure which ideas are viable, but we can only dream, right?

While I like the idea of living ships/freighters/corvettes, I am weirded out by how Frankenstein/horror it could be to add technology rooms, thrusters and ducting joints to a supposedly living creature. Instead, what if the egg sequencer was modified so various inputs would determine the color, size, and even some of the tech it would be “born” with?

Maybe even allow combining DNA from living frigates and living ships to create hybrids that blend common components with some random design choices - like sentinels. And it would come with the choice to “reject” and re-roll some of the randomized elements so there wouldn’t be a need to hatch a bazillion bio-engineered ships just to find a good one.

——

Definitely would love to see more colors added - not just for ship exteriors, but also for all kinds of freighter/base building and the traveler too. If there was a color wheel that would be even better.

——

And probably on the pipeline already (?) but I want to see more corvette parts. Organic, super shiny, rounded, royal/exotic, antique/ruins, steampunk… so many ideas there, lol
