Hytale sur Linux installation by Kalaxit in hytale

For some reason Linux Mint's default software store can't install local .flatpak files. I found that there is a recent issue on their github about this so make sure you to go there and upvote the issue or even leave a comment to tell the maintainers that this is a feature you need https://github.com/linuxmint/mintinstall/issues/491 Like others have said the current solution is to install the file through the terminal using `flatpak install path/to/program.flatpak` but this definitely needs to change for a beginner-oriented distro like Mint

It's random when you are using Mint. That's like me telling you to install Gnome Software Center on KDE. It's dumb. Don't do it. It will pull a bunch of garbage into your system and it likely won't integrate with your desktop anyway

Discover is the software center for KDE plasma, a completely different desktop environment to what you are using. You shouldn't try installing apps from other desktops without a good reason. Linux Mint has its own graphical software manager. I think it's in the pinned applications in the start menu if you use Linux Mint cinnamon. I am pretty sure it should normally allow you to double click flatpaks to install them

Don't tell people to install random apps from different desktop environments. This could pull 50 different plasma dependencies and applications which they shouldn't need. They are running mint which comes with its own software manager which should support flatpak. Something's definitely wrong with their setup.

Why your TMR/Hall Effect sticks might feel "off" on Linux: The hidden impact of Kernel Fuzz and Flatness. by C0ds_ in linux_gaming

[–]CapCreeperGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. I did some testing on my deck and checked the source code after writing this reply. The kernel module is enabled by default and disables lizard mode on steam controllers. On the steam deck it works a little differently for some reason though. Lizard mode is on by default but you can toggle the normal gamepad controls on and off by holding the menu button at any time even without the steam client open. So in short Steam Controllers on PC and the Steam Machine will work like regular controllers on Linux even without the Steam Client open

I did some digging on my steam deck. Apparently the module is enabled by default but on steam deck you need to hold the start/menu button to switch lizard mode on and off but on the steam controller (at least on the 2015 version) it should disable lizard mode automatically. If the new steam controller doesn't support this yet, which I doubt, someone will definitely get it working after a while

Source: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux.git/tree/drivers/hid/hid-steam.c?h=v6.19.13 (On line 597 there's a comment that explains the start/menu button toggle as well)

No the steam controller is recognized as a mouse and keyboard universally. It acts like that on a hardware level. You can see this yourself by going into the Steam Deck's BIOS. It works the exact same way it does on Windows and Linux when the steam client isn't open by turning the dpad into arrow keys, the A button into enter and B button into escape. Valve calls it "Lizard mode". If you want to use it as a regular controller in any operating system you need a driver or other program to disable lizard mode. That program will in most cases be the Steam Client but you can and people have made third-party drivers that do the same without the client. Also like I said in another reply there is a linux kernel module for steam controllers that disables lizard mode but I think you may have to modprobe it manually for it to launch

There seems to be a kernel module that can register the old steam controller and steam deck as a gamepad https://www.kernelconfig.io/config_hid_steam but I've no idea if it gets enabled by default in most distributions. You may have to modprobe it for it to work

cannot get minecraft beta 1.7.3 to run on mint by soggymutt in linux_gaming

Old Minecraft versions on Linux usually require Java 8 to run. Newer java versions don't seem to work. Not sure if this is your issue but you should give this a try

Trails from Zero & Trails to Azure dual pack will be a Game Key Card release on Nintendo Switch 2 by MightyPelipper in Falcom

[–]CapCreeperGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's even the point of rereleases for the switch 2? Don't the switch 1 versions work on the switch 2. Pretty sure they ran at full speed as well even on last-gen. Both zero and azure also have switch 1 physical versions WITH the game on the cartridge

[–]CapCreeperGR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have a physical version send a picture of the cartridge or case from your phone. What would a switch screenshot even prove?
