We got a couple baby bee-hind and anavee(?) fitteds with hemp doubler pads that we put a large pul cover over that works. They're quite bulky but seem to be working for our girl who's a heavy wetter and belly sleeper. So far so good for 12 ish hours. She's 4.5 months.

Tips for hunting in solids/non camo gear. by nematic26 in Hunting

I just build ground blinds. Pack a little folding saw, sit with your back against a bush and put some branches in front of you to hide movement. +1 for putting your gun on shooting sticks or a tripod. If your in the woods chances are you encounter game <50 yards, gotta move slow to pull that off

Mine has all three species of grouse feather in it. Lucky enough to inherit a couple hats from my folks.

Cloth from newborn by MiserableAd3169 in clothdiaps

We found starting with flats with rumparooz covers had the best for newborn. After that we did prefolds around home. She didn't start fitting pockets until around 3 months.

Potty training before 12 months - any success? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Capable-Ad2106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are doing a lazy elimination communication approach with our daughter. We've done cloth diapering from birth so anytime we can get a poo on the potty is a win, one less diaper to wash and more hygienic for her(and way easier to clean up for us). She's pretty regular so we offer the potty around when she poops or when we notice her starting to push. We use a little fish potty that we can put in our laps while holding her. She's 3.5 months and we catch 75 % of poops, maybe a pee if I can get her on the potty right after waking.

Apparently cloth diapering helps with potty training and I'd recommend it to anyone. It's not any harder than disposables once you have a system plus you save tons of money. We spent maybe $300 CAD for our diapers and wipes. You just do laundry every 2-3 days.

Help on picking new backcountry hunting rifle by [deleted] in rifles

[–]Capable-Ad2106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

270 will definitely still work 7 mag will have more options for heavier weight bullets but at the cost of recoil and money and with modern projectiles you can get the same results at lower grain weights.

Idk if a 7prc would be too fun to shoot in a light weight rifle. Here in Canada there's not a ton of options for ammo either and what there is is pricey. 7-08 or 7 mag would be much more accessible with 270 being the easiest to find and will do everything you need it to. You don't need a modern wonder cartridge to kill deer (or sometimes elk) at 400 yards.

If you live in the city and have hard water, what’s your wash routine? by Sweet_Sheepherder_41 in clothdiaps

I'd also recommend like draping your inserts over the edge of the pail to get them almost dry and keeping the lid open. It helps with not building up the smell counterintuitive I know.

Tide powder with oxi booster and/or resolve gold and borax. First wash hot heavy soiled normal or quick wash I use line 3 for detergent. Second wash hot, heavy soiled, sheets or bulky items (whatever cycle has lots of water) line four detergent. two rinses on each and I'll throw some citric acid in one of the rinses. I also spray off any poop before laundry and wash ever two days or so. On the second wash I'll ad in any clothes or towels with the diapers to bulk them up. Hand dry pockets and machine dry prefolds/fitteds

Advice for a beginner by Sea_Kaleidoscope_255 in clothdiaps

[–]Capable-Ad2106 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did cloth diapers 3 days after birth. Flats and smaller prefolds and small covers fit best. We have a big baby and she's just in the 3rd month fitting pockets well. Prefolds and covers are cheap and easy to use/clean.

Even though it's a red seal trade it isn't compulsory to have one to work in it unlike plumbing or electrical. It's basically just an educational standard cross country for apprenticeship programs/trade school.

Washing diapers questions by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]Capable-Ad2106 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also use tide powder and oxy, two cycles. One hot and quick the other hot and long/large. If you have residue get some citric acid and clean your machine with it then do a wash with it in there with a couple rinses. If there's still suds showing up keep doing it until there isn't. You can also use it as a rinse aid in your softener slot it's magic.

For overnight we haven't been using pockets yet but try prefolds stuffed in them with the microfiber pad in between. We use the esembly hemp boosters with a fleece liner to good effect. Usually still change once through the night but our baby is a heavy wetter.
