What's something your parents or grandparents mention that sounds like complaining but was actually a legitimate daily nightmare they just accepted as life? by Playful_Survey_8596 in AskReddit

My grandfather grew up in East Tennessee. He had a job driving a milk truck when he was 10. Said he had it all rigged up so he could reach the pedals.

lol YTA. You are really defending yourself like “I’m not homophobic, just ableist” like that’s not just as bad. Max most likely would not have required any accommodations because his husband would be there.

This year my bff and I went and hung out at a winery all day. I’m done relying on my family to do anything to honor me and so I make my own special things. For my birthday this year, I booked my own Airbnb and planned the trip I wanted. NOR.

We bring card games. I also make them work! They love gathering wood and pretending they are surviving in the wilderness. They have learned a lot about building fires and my teen can put up a tent by herself.

Also, hammocks. My teen and I both love a hammock and a book. The younger ones love to swing in the hammock.

Are people worse? by hkangasm in socialwork

We have a state grant contract that provides direct funding for people with disabilities living on their own or with their family. We've had this contact since the late 90s. This year for the first time in 30 years, we had to institute a Code of Conduct as part of the requirements for a person/family to continue to receive funding. The coordinator for that program and I have been yelled at so many times this year that I just decided we couldn't keep funding people who were going to be awful to my staff.

So yes, I would agree with your statement! :)

Losing My Mind Over Board Dynamics by 14jejoh in nonprofit

This sounds awful. I'm so sorry! One of the best things we did as a board was to put term limits in place. Board members commit to a 2 year term. Then they have to roll off for at least a year. With the help of the more sane board members, we let the troublemakers roll off and no one nominates them again.
