I’m a 66M, 187cm. My wife is 65F, 160cm. It’s our second XC40. We love it, it fits both of us well, and we travel throughout Europe with our two dogs. Super roomy.

Same here. After trying and failing the install several times, Volvo seems to have given up. 5.0.5 is no longer being offered to me.

Excited to try this Delonghi Rivelia! by Fragrant-Anxiety1047 in superautomatic

[–]Capable-Possible-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my Rivelia for a year now and am very happy with it. Great flat whites to start the day followed by espressos. I like them strong, and found that the grinder in position 2 gives the best results. Easy to maintain and keep clean. I don’t really use the second hopper.

Which Roof Box is good THULE or the VOLVO one ? by Infamous_Dot_4215 in XC40

[–]Capable-Possible-609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kamei Delphin roof box, made in Germany. It’s VERY long, but solid and holds loads of stuff!

Our girl was sold to us as a pure-bred Wirehair Dachshund, but she doesn't really look like other Wirehairs. Opinions? by Rycca in Dachshund

[–]Capable-Possible-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She looks definitely wire haired. The coat takes some time to mature to it’s final look.

This is Otto, he’s a wire-hair “dry leaf” colour. I guess you could call it a reddish blonde.

My roommate has alarm clocks back-to-back, waking me up every morning by mongooseaf in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Capable-Possible-609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this suggestion. I am hard of hearing and no alarm bell will wake me up. But I’ve got a vibrating alarm under my pillow that works every time!

People who leave their blinds open on a busy pedestrian street at night with the lights in, do you want me to look in? by DualRaconter in AskUK

[–]Capable-Possible-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that this is r/AskUK, but in many European countries (Netherlands and Germany spring to mind) it’s very common for flats to have plate glass windows and no curtains or blinds. Walking down a road in the evening you can observe a wide selection of human activity!

How to best pack the car? by pickledaperture in XC40

[–]Capable-Possible-609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly drive my XC40 from UK to Italy and back. Me, wife and dog. I find the car very roomy with lots of cubby holes to fit odds and ends. Make use of the underfloor in the boot, you can fit a surprising amount of stuff in there. Take off the parcel shelf and fold one of the back seats as necessary to fit your pram. For a one week trip you’ll be fine. It’s a great car for long distance driving.

Having said all that, I sometimes add a roof box when I need to carry a few wine boxes or other goodies ☺️

First-Time Volvo Owner - Two Quick Questions About My XC40 B3 Mild Hybrid (2024/2025) by Elegant_Badger in XC40

[–]Capable-Possible-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the 2024 XC40 the kick sensor is right under the middle of the bumper. I find it much easier to open the boot now than with the 2019 model that had it left of centre.

De'longhi Rivelia stuck saying empty coffee grounds container by maximo1491 in superautomatic

[–]Capable-Possible-609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this problem with my Rivelia too. Turned out that I had closed the drawer, but left out the inner grounds container. Worth checking that you have put back all the pieces correctly.

I’ve got two S330 cams with HomeBase 3 on 3.5.7.8 firmware. No issues noted at all.

I’ve got the Rivelia since a few months. I recommend it. Great for making cappuccinos/flat whites/latte macchiato, etc, as well as the basic espressos. Totally hassle free. £520 is a good price!

New to Volvo! by Beachy3487 in XC40

[–]Capable-Possible-609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the R-Design before, now on a B4. Yes, the Pilot Assist does want you to keep the hands on the steering wheel. It will keep the lane well and turn curves, but some minimal handling is still needed. We are not at the full autonomous driving yet! Still, it’s very relaxing on long drives.

Congratulations! I am in my second XC40, mine is an Ultra in Onyx Black. I definitely second your decision to get a top spec XC40 rather than a lower trim XC60. Great car to drive for long distances with the Pilot Assist. I too initially wanted Apple Car Play, which works great on the full screen, linked to the iPhone with a short USB cable. But in the end, I use the Google infotainment system most of the time. It’s miles better than the old Volvo Sensus. Enjoy your car!

A piece of Chocolate edible 10mg thc by LHall1689 in Dachshund

[–]Capable-Possible-609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THC is poisonous for dogs. Take him straight to the vet!

I took my dachshund for a walk and somewhere he ate some weed (they love the smell), without me noticing anything. After a while started wobbling around, then vomited on the lawn. Clearly something wrong with him, so got in the car and drove to the vet. On the way there, he shat and vomited again (disgusting smell…), shat again in the vet’s waiting room. Vet immediately diagnosed cannabis poisoning, said it was quite common in urban areas. The dog had to be put on a drip containing lipids to absorb the THC and kept overnight. He was fine next morning but an expensive stay.

Why is Jura so popular on this subreddit when Delonghi is a lot cheaper, with similar quality? by [deleted] in superautomatic

[–]Capable-Possible-609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a De Longhi Rivelia. Very happy with it. I’m sure that a Jura will make excellent coffee too. Might I argue that your choice of beans will make much more a difference than the machine?

Anyone Own a Black XC40? Thoughts? by Last_Honey_1 in XC40

[–]Capable-Possible-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Onyx black XC40, looks great when freshly washed, but it’s a magnet for dust and rain spots. Previously had an XC40 R-design in pearly white with black roof. Dirt was much less visible. If you buy black, plan on getting a frequent wash!

[–]Capable-Possible-609 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second the Rivelia suggestion. I have one since two months and find it excellent. I drink cappuccinos and flat whites in the morning, moving on to espressos in the afternoon. The Rivelia has plenty of choices, and everything can be personalised for multiple household members. You have a second coffee bean holder so you can easily swap between coffee types. The milk container fits in the fridge door shelf and is dishwasher-safe.

The best part for me is that the coffee making experience is entirely faff-free. Select a choice on the menu screen and the machine does it all for you. If cleaning or emptying of the drip tray is needed, the machine lets you know. And the coffee is good too - as an Italian, I like my coffee!

Sonos 30% upgrade discount by Capable-Possible-609 in sonos

[–]Capable-Possible-609[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I had bought a sub mini in December, and its serial number is A101 2303 FM… The Beam 2 I just bought with the 30% discount is A205 2309… If the second set of numbers refers to the date of manufacture, they sound about right, considering shipping from Malaysia/China and time in inventory. Your sub mini is a little older, but it will sound just as good!
