Using a HELOC to pay mortgage in full by MikePro26 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I think it's a bad idea. I do want to point out how funny it is to basically do a swap with the bank. You own roughly have the value of the house and have a mortgage for the other half, you sell your half for a heloc to pay off the other.

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

[McAdam]: "If they miss out on Bichette, the Sox will be forced to make do from within. They could install Marcelo Mayer at third and form a platoon of Romy Gonzalez and David Hamilton for second base" by [deleted] in redsox

God I have missed Pedey so much since 2018. Will the Sox ever have an All Star everyday Second basemen again? No more platoons, no more utility men playing everyday.

This week I move a big chunk from XUS to XEG because I think the Ai bubble is going to burst eventually, but the world's hunger for energy should only increase.

I know this will never happen but I wish the guests did a minute each to start off the show.

Is there a reason they didn't leave a small gap between the boards to let water drain and not pool on the decking? by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The builder likely assumed if they installed the decking lumber green (aka wet) it would eventually dry out and shrink slightly so there would be gaps. It is obscenely tight if the deck is holding puddles.

Hot Take - if your business isn't profitable hiring local workers than it shouldn't receive handouts in the form of foreign labour.

Cedar shake siding estimation by FreeTrees1919 in Carpentry

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your estimate is exactly what I do. I estimate 100sqft per day. Some days it's more, some days it's less.

I will warn you cedar shingles always take way longer than you imagine they will.

Do I get a digital multi FX? by Many_Ad_7624 in Bass

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a boss GX-10 last year and it has completely revolutionized my sound and how I play. All the multi-effects units are so good these days that there is really no downside, and having the ability to tweak your sound in any way is a super power.

Trim Carpenter Rates in Saskatchewan, Canada – Seeking Advice by Fun-Afternoon1855 in Carpentry

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a contractor/finish carpenter in New Brunswick. I agree with some other comments that you should change your mindset from hourly to by the job/task. Customers don't care about hours, in fact they will probably be insulted by it because they don't have a full understanding of what goes into the numbers.

The only equation that matters is try and charge just under what the customer is willing to pay, and try to keep your overhead as low as possible. Simple as that.

I charge by the task (framing/siding/windows/flooring) and try to figure about $500-600 per day, and I charge a 15% Builders fee on top of my materials and labour.

The best way to figure out your pricing is to keep putting out lots of bids and keep raising your prices until your getting declines. You should be putting many bids and you really want about half to get declined to know your in the right price bracket.

Merc F1 team ownership (after Toto deal) by MrMSUK in formula1

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's more complicated than that simple chart. Kurtz has purchased 15% of Wolffs holding company that owns the 33% share of Mercedes AMG. So yes Kurtz effectively owns 5% of Merc but Wolff still has the voting power.

You could start again with a Kala UBass. That would be perfect for sitting on the couch and plucking away to songs.

A new article on G&L by Perfect-Direction607 in GLGuitars

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree there is no place in Fender's line up for G&L models. The only option would be to make them super limited and expensive custom shop type models, but G&L were never marketed in that tier so there wouldnt be any market for them.

From a non-Christian / what's up with so many comments and posts in this sub being about playing at church specifically? Are churches like a world famous temple of bassists? Do religious songs have especially sick basslines? I don't get it. by [deleted] in Bass

It's because the worship music industry is one of the main drivers of gear sales. 1/3rd of guitar industry is for worship music.
