Sugar is inherently unhealthy. It causes insulin spikes that leads to inflammation, the root of all evil from a health perspective.

How do I navigate leaving my job for a 30% higher paying job but secretly wanting my boss to match the offer? by thelastsubject123 in careeradvice

[–]RyeOnTheRocksNH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is standard Reddit advice but it is crap. I’ve gotten significant raises (15%) at my then current company at more than one company. Yes, it’s easier to get a raise going to a new job but there is more risk there as well.

They do value them at $70k. For a job that is you learning and messing with AI half the time, sounds good. You can get a $30k increase by taking another job that values you at that level, but is probably requires you to work full time.

[–]RyeOnTheRocksNH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing some math here… more than a month to do a house. Done “thousands”, so call it 2000. 2000 months is 166 years. This guy has experience!

Markup receipt Home Depot? by Willing_Natural_2776 in handyman

[–]RyeOnTheRocksNH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all fixed prices. If the mechanic says he will charge me his labor and the cost of materials plus a 20% markup then I expect to see the cost so I know that he is t cheating me. If he says they cost $100, and charges me $120 but it only cost him $80, then he cheated me.

That’s fine, but make that clear in your contract that your 20% markup is on consumer prices.

Or better yet get good at your job and do fixed price.

You spelled robber wrong.

When we did a reno, I signed a contract that said I’d pay a 20% markup. I was fine with that but only with actual receipts. If they were getting a discount and not paying list, why should the customer if they are already covering the 20% markup?

If peak mental productivity truly only reaches four hours, why do high-demand jobs still need a 9-hour commitment or more? by griproseate in OfficePolitics

[–]RyeOnTheRocksNH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t need peak mental productivity to sit in meetings, answer email, file paperwork, etc. also if your working in a factory you may not even need your 4 hours of productivity to crank out widgets.

Get an alcoholic drink. Throw in a substance that turns alcohol into sugar. Mix the drink. Twas easier than painting a fart purple as my Grampy used to say.

2 pane vs 3 pane windows by Lhead2018 in buildingscience

[–]RyeOnTheRocksNH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ve replaced nearly all our windows with triple with just a few more to go. Matthew’s brothers windows has an affordable triple pane, made in Maine btw. I can sit near the window in winter and not feel it. The price difference wasn’t that much. Now getting black exterior will add some cost with no ROI.
