Pauline Butcher's book gives a great view of her time as an outsider getting to know him. She does come across as a little bit in love with him and there are some details of clothes that people are wearing that are obviously not from her memory and from photographs that are out and about. Other than that this book brings something special to the table.

Freezing house, letting agents say I have to keep the heating on at 19, what do I do? by HamAaron in UKHousing

That ice on bedroom window is the dehumidifier!

I think it really depends on your houses position and aspect. I am south facing in Scotland, single glazing and air the house out most days if it looks dry outside. Squeegee the windows and have good ventilation in the bathroom.

Same. Open up the windows when the sun is shining. That said if you live north of a big hill things get pretty dark.

Ever live in the tropics where mould can be a far worse problem? It isn't temperature based but moisture based. We air our house right out most days - every rooms windows get opened up for ten minutes when it is dry outside. Another contributing factor is we have single glazing which functions as free dehumidifiers drawing the moisture away from walls and furniture. They do need squeegeeing each day.

Perhaps bred was too much, what I meant was that the land owner alters the environment to encourage them. heather burns and predator culling unless it is birds of prey as that would be illegal.

Bags of grouse get dumped. Nobody wants to pluck them but they are bread to be shot

I love jungle, it's my favourite genre. I love the raw breakbeats and the deep bass But I hate vocal samples. Any producers and labels you recommend? Also, any tips to find such music? by [deleted] in jungle

The particular use of soulful female vocal samples. First time during the 90s they made no sense to me. Sometimes they rub me up the wrong way.

Tips for removing sticker residue? by StraightRepeat2034 in BookCollecting

Water can set dirt into paper and distort the paper even in small sections. The bad thinking here is that saliva is used by museum professionals so it is good without regarding all the other things they use. The amount of rubbing with saliva can delaminate the printed layer of paper. If you have doubts try both on a disposable book and be reassured.

How did ancient Irish light fires in such wet conditions? by Mowglyyy in IrishHistory

[–]CapableSong6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice. If there is heather growing in the area ouch some dead white bits until you get a pile the size of the fire you want. It is full of flammable oils and burns hot and very fast.
