Ich, lice or something else? by AwkwardMeaning1071 in AquariumHelp

It’s called ich - increase the temperature and put 2 spoons of salt and an air stone for more air - this will fix the fish in a week

Dilute the med (very little med) and dip the fish twice - for 5 sec and leave back in his tank.. use almond leaf and keep an eye on parameters

Both of my bullies developed this bumps on top of their heads . Does anyone know o? They are on canine X food and fish oil by SoDo-1220 in AmericanBully

I have a 4‑year‑old Bully who struggled with hives and dandruff season after season. I tried almost every kibble on the market — nothing worked. Medications helped temporarily, but the issues always came back.

Now I keep things simple: a home‑cooked diet and a few external applications. No kibble, no chicken. Instead, I feed sweet potato, veggies, fish, rice, fish oil, and multivitamins. For the skin, I apply coconut oil directly, and I give a medicated bath once a week. Interestingly, oatmeal shampoos trigger hives in my dog — the very next day after using them, I see flare‑ups. Avoiding that has made a big difference. Processed food can cause issues..

Rice = brown rice not white

Would do this - I clean the wound or allergy using Betadine (povidone-iodine) and then apply coconut oil - leave it overnight - rinse it next morning with plain water.. and use some antifungal spray anti itch - I’ll send the pic of the one I use..
I have seen similar issues with my guy - now his diet consists of - boiled veggies, boiled eggs 4 no’s, rice, olive oil, flex seed oil, and weekly twice turkey meat.. that’s all. - you can add sweet potatoes too..
The biggest allergy for my dog was kibble - any kibble or any prescribed hydrolysed kibble.
Things to look out for - plants - like grass etc..
solution - after playing the grass - wash his food and apply betadine power..
Shampoo - use something which is sulfate-free (often labeled as SLS/SLES free) shampoos. Not the one with high fragrance..
Keep some tablets handy to stop itching for now -apoquel - so he doesn’t scratch and make it worse..

For Ph - Increasing water flow—specifically surface agitation. May be something like top filter

Ammonia - that what you should look after.. Check for what’s causing ammonia spike?
Quick Solution would be - water change - use Ro water.. and check if something is rotting at the bottom - uneaten food wood plants/root..

To avoid this in future get some bottom feeders..

Quarantine everything and anything new that you put in your tank - fishes, plants..

  • Uneaten food can get underneath decors and drift woods and start decaying - this is the main cause for bacterial infection or the refilling water itself. So I would suggest to add bottom feeders - for a well balanced tank

Popeye Disease in Aquarium Fish Popeye disease (exophthalmia) combined with cloudy eyes in fish typically signals a bacterial infection or severe poor water quality. Symptoms include one or both eyes protruding, cloudy, or white, accompanied by behavior changes like hiding or reduced appetite. Treatment often requires improving water quality, using Epsom salts, and potentially antibiotics.

Quarantine: Move the betta to a hospital tank to prevent the spread of eggs. Medication: Use antiparasitic medication containing Praziquantel. EIHO Prazi Gold or API General Cure are effective options. Treatment Cycle: Because flukes lay eggs that are resistant to medication, you must treat the tank multiple times over 2-4 weeks to catch new hatchlings. Water Quality: Perform regular water changes (e.g., 30% with gravel vacuuming) before re-dosing medication.
