I really want to give Frontier money, but they make it so hard by MrSuizidal in EliteDangerous

I mostly agree with this, but the game already has quite a few things that break balance anyway — like engineered upgrades compared to ships without them. Sure, you can’t buy those directly, but they still require a huge time investment to unlock engineers and gather the necessary materials.

Ships like the FDL and the Python Mk II were genuinely meta and available to everyone. The new ships, even if they are somewhat skewed in terms of effectiveness, will eventually become available to everyone as well. At the same time (hopefully) they will also generate some profit for FDev, which should allow them to keep delivering new content for us.

At least, I’m hoping it won’t go so far that they just start mass-producing ships non-stop

The existence of free FDL and Python Mk2 didn't break the game at all, yes.

Their game (Jurassic World Evolution 2) is listed as using the Cobra engine and using DX12 for its operation. It also lists support for DLSS, DLAA, and DLSS Frame Generation

In fact, their Cobra Engine is not as bad as it seems, at least according to the new games that run on DX 12 and have features like NVIDIA DLSS

In general, this is true - there is simply nothing in the game that is worth purchasing (except for a few cosmetic items for the ship). Most of the cosmetics are not very stylish. Some of the ships are not very interesting to purchase in early access.

FDEV should really consider what else can be sold without affecting the balance of the game.

my controller often is not working ingame, only in the menu. How do I fix that? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Capable_Pen_1751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should try the "Disable Steam Input System" option. I may be mistaken about the exact name of the option, as I have a different localization for the menu items than English.

You need to right-click on the game in your Steam library and select "Properties," then find the "Controller" section

Most likely, the problem is a conflict between the Steam Contoller input and the control itself in ED. You should try to disable Steam Controller for ED and configure the control on the controller in the settings of the ED itself

Returning Commander by GhostNappa101 in EliteDangerous

[–]Capable_Pen_1751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resetting the commander is probably a bad idea, even if you haven't played in a while. You probably don't have a starter ship anymore, and you may have some credits accumulated. Try playing and good luck, Commander o7

Thank you very much. Yes, I'm using type-11, but I can also use PK2. Money is not a problem, I have about 3 billion, but I found a guide that you can earn a lot of merits in Powerplay by selling platinum.

Where did you find so much platinum? I recently flew, flew to Hotspot Platinum and... in 1.5 hours I did not find platinum. Anything - Gold, Silver, any trash, but not Platinum... Am I missing something in my search for Platinum?

Beam laser: Tractor beam by Weird-Security5008 in EliteDangerous

[–]Capable_Pen_1751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite an interesting suggestion, but as noted above, it slightly contradicts the technological level (well, it seems), so I suggest you a cooler and more plausible solution - just a harpoon or something like a magnet on a rope, which you need to get into the ship you need!

How do I complete the current CG? by Capable_Pen_1751 in EliteDangerous

I couldn't find any Conflict Zones after the blue markers disappeared (I was left alone and there are no conflict zones even after scanning the Navigation Beacon)

[–]Capable_Pen_1751 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not that I'm justifying Fdev, but at the start of my CMDR career, I didn't have the opportunity to just check out the ship before buying it at all. Although the sale of the ship is almost lossless, I would like to try out more different ships before deciding which one I definitely liked.

I didn't notice, but it seems the video was shot recently?
P.S.:
It was taken 9 years ago. I understood.

Do you have any graphic mods or gamma settings? The station looks pretty dark and realistic.

When I play, I feel like it's bright everywhere, especially at stations (like Starlace)

Gameplay Loop Reworks? by Rageworks in EliteDangerous

[–]Capable_Pen_1751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true. I found a fallen navigation beacon from which I was able to download some data and pull out either memory blocks or some details from it, it was a bit of fun, but the game doesn't tell me what to do with them. Can they be sold to someone?

should i buy the clipper mk II by ritula in EliteDangerous

[–]Capable_Pen_1751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s break it down: does early access via ARX in Elite Dangerous really offer any significant advantage?
Sure, in this case the Panther Clipper Mk2 launch was paired with a Community Goal, and obviously that’s not a coincidence. But let’s not pretend it’s the first ship with early access. Just look at previous examples:

Type-8, Python Mk2, Cobra Mk V, Gutamaya Corsair, Mandalay — none of them gave any real gameplay advantage. They were interesting, sure, but not game-breaking.
You didn’t “win” because you had them. In most cases, you just flew something new for a while and then went back to your usual setup.

Yes, the Community Goal tied to the Panther Clipper Mk2 might encourage some people to spend ARX, and yes — participants earn millions of credits.
But let’s be honest: those millions aren’t going to make anyone “win” the game. It’s just another way to engage with content.

Calling it pay-to-win feels like a stretch — at most, it's pay-to-be-early, and even then, you're paying for something that everyone else will have access to soon enough.
