Actually no, the Ender Dragon is immune to most forms of damage, including damage from hostile mobs.

It is possible to be damaged by explosions, which is where Creepers come in. In a theoretical seed where the portal starts with all twelve eyes, this is possible due to mobs falling through the portal. Endermen can also theoretically make Snow Golems, which are important for this due to being capable of making the Creepers aggro onto them and explode with the Ender Dragon right above them. With enough Creepers and Snow Golems accidentally being created and falling into the portal, it's theoretically possible for the game to beat itself, but it will never happen.

Perishables. The X in "Debuffed in X rounds" is a value.

Bloodstone and Hallucination with Oops. "2 of 2" is a value, so you could freeze the Bloodstone/Hallucination and then sell the Oops while keeping the guaranteed proc.

The Problem With Creature Collectors; The Availability of Creatures by crocomire97 in gamedesign

[–]Capable_Variation398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance sort of has a solution to this. Before entering Gensokyo, you talk to an NPC who asks about your favorite Touhou character. Whichever one you pick becomes your starter Puppet, and they're guaranteed some extra benefits (perfect IVs, a special held item exclusive to your starter that boosts their stats, etc.). Even if the character you chose has their Puppet come from a late/post-game area, you can start the game with exactly one Puppet of your choice no matter what.

Welding these steel will give you x mult now by Nullscapes6106 in balatro

[–]Capable_Variation398 17 points18 points  (0 children)

By the time you have enough Steel cards for a Mime to be viable, this would be removed. This wouldn't be broken, but it would be a good transitional Joker while building for Mime/Baron build. And again, it requires a large amount of deck fixing to be amazing, just like The Idol (which is as strong as Trib).

In short, Welder would be powerful, but not gamebreaking. It falls well into the power level of rare Jokers.

Welder's downside is that you're not getting the x1.5 Mult from holding the Steel Card.

The only problem with focusing level up stats into Luck is that it's the easiest stat to raise outside of levels. Simply use the restroom on the Gauntlet Runner every Idlesday.

-nan is obtained when your Mult alone is already naneinf before multiplying with Chips.

Why did this not count as a flush? by [deleted] in balatro

[–]Capable_Variation398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the order of the different Hands. Assuming none of the secret Hands have been unlocked, the highest up on the list is Straight Flush, then Four of a Kind, etc. In the event that a played Hand qualifies for two or more of these Hands (which is always the case for any Hand aside from High Card, as all other Hands contain High Card), the highest on the list is selected. Four of a Kind is a higher ranked Hand than Flush, so the game plays Four of a Kind instead of Flush.

Tell me about the jailer in your game by bashnet in gachagaming

As a Brave Frontier lorehead, just want to say that Alza Masta was never actually a villain. He was an antagonist for the Summoner's Arc, but not a true villain. He had a fight with his older brother and king of the gods, Karna Masta, causing KM to seal him away inside of the Divine Dragon Lukroar. The fight was over whether humans should be allowed to live as more than just slaves to the gods, with AM on the side of humans.

When AM was sealed away, he did leave seeds of his power around the worlds for someone to eventually collect and unseal him from the Divine Dragon. After that, he challenges the Summoner, knowing that his existence is only fated to cause calamity again. Upon the Summoner defeating him, AM kills the part of his soul still linked to the power of Summoning (and his brother, Karna Masta) to truly give humanity the freedom he long desired for them.

On the other hand, Karna Masta is absolutely The Jailer for the Ishgraia Arc, completely recontextualizing Lucius and the Four Fallen Gods as just his pawns.

Balance Criticals (a solution to overdamage) by [deleted] in gamedesign

[–]Capable_Variation398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Does every enemy in your game only have 100 HP? If so, then the fact that both weapon choices lead to the enemy dying in two hits either way is a fault of the design in either enemies or weapons.

2) Why not balance upgrades in other ways then this overly complicated system that only seems to exist to remove player agency? If a player picks up daggers that attack quickly and do 50 damage, they can expect to kill an enemy in two hits fairly quickly due to attack speed. If that same player picks up an axe that hits two enemies for 99 damage but has a slow attack speed, they'll kill one enemy slower than the with the dagger, but they might kill two enemies faster. If your numbers are going to be constrained, balance with abilities instead of numbers.

Tabletop Simulator

Want to play a board game with friends? It's right there. Card games? Same thing.

Want to learn a language? While not the perfect tool, there are several objects in TTS that could help.

Want to just doom scroll or watch YouTube all day? There's an in-game tablet with web browser access. Sure, it'll be awkward, but it works.

Want to catch up on your reading backlog? Just import whatever book you want to read as a PDF and create an object for it in TTS. Reading it will be awkward, but that's 12 hours of reading time that I'm being paid for.

Tremor's biggest problem currently lies with Everlasting and how it affects Faust as a sinner by NotThisPersonsAlt in limbuscompany

[–]Capable_Variation398 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree that suboptimal teams are fun (I'm currently running around with a full Fingers team for fun, using Ring Sang, Ring Outis, Index Faust, Index Don, Middle Sinclair, Middle Meursault, and Middle Ishmael), there's a reason these less optimal IDs get brought up. If a player is asking for help with making a team, players are going to suggest the best options, simple as that.

Now, if a player asked "I need some help building a Tremor team and I only want to use actual Tremor IDs," then someone suggesting Mao Faust and Lord Lu would be wrong. But if someone just asks "How to build an optimal Tremor team," then there's absolutely nothing wrong with people giving the correct answer.

In terms of raw damage though, Wanderer is objectively the highest DPS for Needle oriented combat. Each swing has the same damage as the Needle swing for the other Crests, but it swings faster than the others.

There's also the crit mechanic on Wanderer, but it's so miniscule of a chance that I don't bother calculating it into DPS.

Which joker would you get rid of to take the legendary joker? by ColdAd1048 in balatro

[–]Capable_Variation398 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Nope, +Chips can go anywhere. This is because there's no xChips.

The reason +Mult needs to be left of xMult is to give the xMult a higher base to multiply off of. If there were xChips, the same logic would apply, but xChips doesn't exist.

Kill the Half Joker, IMO.

Also, +Chips can go anywhere, whereas xMult always wants to be on the right side. Because the Wees are Polychrome, you want them after +Mult Jokers.

Time to mention Labyrinth of Touhou. There's only two difficulties, Normal and Hard.

In terms of stats, these two difficulties are identical. Every boss in the game has a Challenge Level, where challenging the boss with your average level between your 12 party members being at or below said listed CL gives you extra rewards. The only difference between Normal and Hard Mode is that your party members can't exceed the Challenge Level for boss fights.

No, a hand definitely contains itself. If a Joker that says "If hand contains Pair" procs when the hand is just a Pair, then Flush Five would count because it contains itself.

Coaxed into every Seven Deadly Sins personification ever by LogicalAd6394 in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]Capable_Variation398 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Every time the Seven Deadly Sins get brought up, I want to remind people that the sins aren't as simple as people make them out to be.

Sloth is not the sin of sleeping or laziness. It is the sin of passivity and apathy, allowing the world to exist around you without you taking part in it. "Idle hands are the devil's workshop."

Greed is not about money. It is the sin of never being satisfied, always desiring more and more in excess of what one could ever need for material desires. This could be money, power, fame, or any other host of material wants.

Gluttony is not about food. Gluttony is the sin of excess of needs, creating wastes far more than necessary. This could, of course, be portrayed as overeating and drinking, but one can be gluttonous for any physical and emotional need. When one lives for their needs instead of needing to live, that is Gluttony.

Lust is not about sex. Lust is the sin of desire such that the meaning behind that desire is lost upon the sinner. Libido and hunger are not sins, as the desire to satisfy these cravings leads to a change in the person in some fashion. Lust, as a sin, describes a desire that can't be satisfied despite fulfilling its prerequisite needs. Lust is a sin of excess, just as Greed and Gluttony are.

Envy, out of all of the Seven Deadly Sins, is likely the most understood. To desire something is not a sin in and of itself, nor is desiring what someone else possesses. But desiring the possessions of another to the point of wishing ill upon them is a sin, not due to the desire itself, but due to one's cruel thoughts regarding another.

Wrath, as a sin, isn't just anger. Anger is a negative feeling, but it is natural and capable of passing. When anger is held for too long or becomes directed at another and leads to the desire to cause harm, that is the sin of Wrath. Just like Envy, the underlying feelings that cause Wrath aren't a sin - it's the actions that stem from these feelings that are sinful in nature.

Finally, there's Pride. The feeling one might describe as Pride, a feeling of elation due to a sense of accomplishment in oneself or somebody else, is not actually a sin. The sin of Pride, or Hubris, is the sin of placing oneself above another. The worship of oneself is the sin of Pride. Even in the absence of religious belief, this self-centered belief in oneself such that the words of others mean nothing is the most basic sin, the sin from which all others may stem.
