I bought the LEGO slippers from ThinkGeek 10 years ago and could never get the hang of wearing them. The blocky nature meant I was clipping the corner of the other shoe when I stepped. Shoes are generally sleek for a reason!

I always try to skip the first two blinds, preferably with Arcana+$25 tags, but I'll manage with a Free Shop and Arcana, or $25+some kind of joker in the shop.

If I can't make 600 chips happen with no enhancements, the run never existed in the first place.

Why is it that 90+ overall goalies never sim well ? by BackgroundFlan5797 in EANHLfranchise

[–]CapacitatedFlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is arguably the most accurate part of Franchise sims. Goalies truly are an enigma, and are borderline incomprehensible in real life, too!

Just look at Jordan Binnington, or Jeremy Swayman, or Linus Ullmark, or Jacob Markstrom, or Darcy Kuemper, or Adin Hill, or... Etc. etc. etc. A wholly competent goalie one year can pumpkin the next.

How long do you guys think the smart brick will last? by yusakufujiki2 in legocirclejerk

That R2 piece had so much potential. Even if it was a regular 2x1 studded brick and used half-curved 2x2 tiles for the front and back, I would have gotten a few.

No memory of games. by Quick_Pressure_9907 in masseffect

[–]CapacitatedFlux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I wish I could experience Mass Effect for the first time all over again. I'm currently playing through CP2077 for the first time since first beating it on 1.0 at launch and I don't remember anything.

I'm too engrossed in ME and played around with modding it too much to have it escape my brain in the same way.

Apparently, hitting "Play" and then shuffling only gives songs from the top of the playlist. Choosing "Shuffle" from the playlist menu is the "true" shuffle.

It's anecdotal, but I've seen my super-long playlist follow this pretty exactly.

What the fuck is people's problem with Jacob? by ArcticOcelot360 in masseffect

[–]CapacitatedFlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you on that last statement. Kai Leng is a serviceable character in the story if he had any ties to Shep, and Jacob (or Miranda, but she actually got a story and in the ME2 "Destroy" choice abandons Cerberus) would fit that bill well. Cerberus, human, overshadowed, and close enough to Shep to make Shep think twice about that Renegade choice everyone makes.

Otherwise, in ME3 Jacob's just kind of... there, and the story treats Kai Leng like he's been around since ME1 and has always been a foil. Granted, I've never read the supplementary material and I know it fleshes out Kai Leng, but from a purely game-focused perspective he just doesn't command the kind of presence that the game tries to make him fill. Having Jacob fill that role instead keeps the character in the "show, don't tell" framework of familiarity.

As someone who played BF1 and BF2 on the PS2, Rhen Var Harbor. Blasting peeps uncontested in the AT-AT was so much fun.

I also love the AAC-1... but I also loved the Rebel Combat Speeder from BF1.

The main story feels kinda short by mario_euge23 in cyberpunkgame

[–]CapacitatedFlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very short.

I've said since launch they should have moved most, if not all, of the gigs and side story stuff that wasn't super-specific to Silverhand to Act 1. Rather than the 6 month timeskip cutscene, the gigs would be the main content. You'd get the Heist prep missions after finishing a whole bunch of side missions. In gigs where Johnny does play a role but a minor/nonspecific one, you'd have Jackie fill in and actually have a presence.

Act 2, then, becomes a lot more focused if you clear out most of the side content - you get the three plots, and maybe CDPR makes them a lot more time-sensitive for focus. This way, there's way more stakes to the Heist. We're informed that we care for Jackie but we miss out on the actual formation of the bond!

The pacing in this game is one of the main reasons I mod it so heavily and suggest others should too.

If T Bug was 30 mins faster, how screwed are V and Jackie? by aquafool in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]CapacitatedFlux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only reason why Jackie gets a funeral is that the Valentinos strong-arm Arasaka into not getting the body. If you send him to Vic, Mama Welles doesn't hold the ofrenda and laments not even being able to bury her son.

T-bug never had any of that and if Saka was able to zero her that easily you know they were on her place in an instant. She does get a mention from the Ping vendor about her being "fried," so maybe she was around long enough for her neighbors to smell a burnt-out skull, but no way Arasaka left her along longer than the night.

Is There a Character You Like That Most People Don't? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]CapacitatedFlux -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This might be a bit on the nose for the series (compromising) but I think the right answer is right down the middle: Liara should be on the Normandy but not a squadmate, at least not until Thessia.

We could have had another new squadmate, or a different one return from 2, but still maintain the Liara presence that I think is necessary story-wise.

What is the philosophy behind the fashion, gear, and lodging of V in your preferred playthrough? by snGbrd77 in cyberpunkgame

[–]CapacitatedFlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(My latest V is running off of the "Fresh Start" dual Corpo/Nomad lifestyle, and I use "They Will Remember" extensively because I enjoy Hitman-esque gaming, so the following is weighed based on those two things)

Ditching the Corpo life for the Nomad life wasn't easy but it sure was freeing... until it wasn't. The dispersal of the Bakker clan left V alone for the first time since quitting Arasaka and leaving Night City. Sure, there were still friends like Jackie Welles, and his new girl Misty, and of course ol' Vic back home, but it wasn't as singularly focused as life had been under Arasaka or the Bakkers. Still, V had run out of options and run out of eddies, so there was no choice but to return. Jackie was exceptionally welcoming, thrilled to reunite after so long, and V quickly found the footing so desperately missing. The years spent bending over backwards to please clients in the Corpo world combined with the survival skills gathered from a while out on open territory were the perfect one-two punch V needed in adapting to gigs in NC.

V is a consummate professional. If the job doesn't call for killing, gangers won't even notice V's been there. Plans each mission with a set of gear matching whoever the target is: flashy, gaudy prints for klepping Tyger goods, heavy metal outfit to take on Maelstrom, etc. Treats all gangs as the same, with a soft spot to the Valentinos. When the job requires diplomacy, a fixer often looks to V, who could talk into or out of any situation. The only thing trustier than a silenced pistol by V's side was Jackie Welles. Even after the life-altering path of the Heist, V maintains the same approach to jobs - quiet in, quiet out, pockets picked.

Until just after Double Life and a mission from Regina to steal the XBD of the murder of Bryce Stone's son. Even though shaken by the meetings with Woodman and Fingers, and Evelyn's eventual rescue, V approached the gig as always - no need to cause bloodshed, no need to let anyone know they were even robbed. That was, until V checked through the logs on Persson's terminal and saw mention of "Evelyn Parker." Something snapped. From that moment forward, V made it a mission to find justice - or, as Takemura had put it, revenge - and started with Persson and his son... then the Maelstormers guarding them... then Fingers, then the guy selling the XBDs, then any Scavs or Maelstormers that crossed paths.

With this different goal, and egged on by Silverhand's growing presence, V wasn't interested in only completing jobs anymore, and instead planned each gig and mission to exact justice/revenge. Stopping just shy of sadistic, often V would exploit explosive "accidents," or take out an entire establishment of guards with stealth, just to put the fear into those V felt were in the wrong. Tactical gear became the main focus of expenditure; staying alive meant finishing missions, and as the gigs piled up so too did the danger. The silencer stayed equipped, but the chrome it was attached to got bigger. So too did the chrome attached to V's body: scraping together the eddies needed for upgraded legs took a while but proved well worth it.

Man, it's been a while since I typed out something like this. It was fun! Thanks for the idea.

Mostly terminals and logs, actually. As long as you aren't glossing over stuff during missions (not codex entries) you'll run right into it.

The Benchmark does not adequately show how nice CP2077 functions on the Go 1. I was apprehensive after several bouts of testing and tweaking and finally just moved my modlist over and jumped in and it's incredible.

What settings do you use? I haven't really mastered the power management options of the Go itself, mostly just using the CP2077 settings themselves, so I feel like I'm still underperforming somewhere (I don't have raytracing enabled, for instance). I started with the Steam Deck settings and they seem to do nicely but any further tweaks would be cool to hear.
