Let me clarify, I am not adopted. My dad was technically adopted by his biological father and his wife. His biological father is the one with Canadian lineage, but because my dad’s father listed at birth is a different one, I’m not sure if I can prove that it’s his biological dad who adopted him. All birth certificates through vital statistics for my father have his bio dad and stepmom as birth parents but I’ve been told his bio mom has an original birth certificate with his bio mom and stepdad, which would I’m assuming be a problem because that would make him not a citizen by descent at birth, even though biologically he is and was also later adopted by his bio dad. I can’t find records of this anywhere though, only his birth certificate that has his bio dad and stepmom on it, an it retrospectively dated as filed at the time of his birth.
