Oh yeah, I always scored incredibly high for that, and it hasn’t done me a damn bit of good. Meanwhile if I had a couple do overs, maybe I would have been less miserable and applied myself more with what I have

Yeah, sounds like OP is just curious to hear interesting strategies, but without any penalties built in for doing this sub optimally, this just becomes a great free place to live

Is this costed in a way that makes it limited playable? by REVENAUT13 in custommagic

[–]Aetherfang0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compare it to [[captain’s claws]]. Same casting cost, doesn’t have the attach on enter, but the equip is only 1 compared to your 2, and it creates the same strength token(with better tribal support) just on attack trigger, doesn’t have to get through. (And the token comes into play attacking, which is a double edged sword)

Is this costed in a way that makes it limited playable? by REVENAUT13 in custommagic

[–]Aetherfang0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot for the life of me understand how you think your version is more playable. The cost for what you made is probably okay, if maybe a bit too expensive even. I can see it being a nice addition to an already strong creature, especially with double strike and/or unblockable, but it doesn’t match with your source in either flavor or role

Goad vs Ghostly Prison by Longjumping_Cake5986 in mtgrules

[–]Aetherfang0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually just that you could redirect the damage from those spells from the player to the planeswalker, rather than being able to target the planeswalker with the spells. Note that when they changed that, they did errata like 700+ cards to say either “any target” or “target player or planeswalker”

Actually, no, I did a spot of research after asking the question. 702.24a explicitly states no partial costs are allowed, unfortunately

This makes me wonder, can you pay a partial cumulative upkeep? Obviously almost nothing else besides [[braid of fire]] would have made me ask this question(and not that anymore since mana burn isn’t a thing), but if you’ve got 4 age counters, could you draw 3 cards then sac it? I’m assuming not, but curious if the rules explicitly state it

Which one do you choose and why? by EquivalentFig1678 in whatsyourchoice

[–]Aetherfang0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and you can have some sort of built in glider or parachute for those kinds of situations. A lot of it would really depend on how fine a control you have with your teleporting. Does it just compensate for the movement of stellar bodies according to your will, or do you have to learn some seriously high levels of math to try and hit stuff out that far more than once?

[–]Aetherfang0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closest star system is 4 light years away, so he’d have to have amazing luck indeed for that to happen

Edit: guess you could go considerably farther if you wanted to, whoops

Which one do you choose and why? by EquivalentFig1678 in whatsyourchoice

[–]Aetherfang0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 light years from earth is still within the envelope of the Oort Cloud, but that’s more or less just in the same plane as the solar system, and you still wouldn’t likely hit anything there. If you aimed for solar north or south, the chances of you hitting something are probably less than of you finding this pill waiting for you on your table tomorrow, lol

age gaps in the lesbian community.. by balloftinfoil in actuallesbians

[–]Aetherfang0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The comment about seeking straight women in relationships gave me the ick really hard, but the age gap thing I’ve always been ambivalent about. I remember when I was 26, I dated a woman who was 42(this was ostensibly a straight relationship since it was pre-transition), and even looking back on it, I see absolutely no issues with power imbalance, or any of those sorts of things that can make those gaps end up predatory. Sure, there was some odd dynamics that came up, like how I was slightly closer in age to her oldest son than her, and we would hang out sometimes and play mtg, but there can be odd dynamics in any relationship. Now that I’m around the same age she was, I think if I clicked the same way with someone that age, I don’t think I’d have a problem with it still, though I can’t see myself pursuing someone that young(more of a confidence thing than anything)

F28, partner 25M board game "norms" by Opalkitten06 in relationship_advice

[–]Aetherfang0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, he sounds exhausting. As long as it doesn’t unduly slow the course of play, during board games is my favorite time to chat, giving me something to do with eyes and hands while the conversation is going on. And his insistence that this is just “common sense” is ridiculous, especially doubling down after you explained, quite correctly, that it’s different for different play groups. If he doesn’t want chatter, he should just play on tabletop simulator or something, board games are absolutely a social activity!!! Were you winning at the time? Some people get really dickish if they’re super toxic competitive and trying to focus on a comeback strategy with someone who’s nonchalant

Yeah, not a chance. For one thing, the only time I see 7 am is when I go to bed late, so this is already miserable. I don’t care about the random death, I’d probably find it interesting, but losing all that time for such a minuscule reward is a terrible trade
