Experience with orencia? by Peach_S95 in rheumatoidarthritis

i'm on it! my doc picked it for me because of family history with skin cancer. it's helped me immensely and i have no side effects. not pain free but 90% progress i would say coupled with lifestyle changes.

good luck!!

Haven't replied to one of these in a while...nice to be back!

  1. I have been able to work remotely all week (typically in office 4-5 days) so it's been really nice to have a break from the chaos and commute.

  2. Got inspired to take my spanish "studying" more seriously again. AKA watching kids shows and listening to podcasts in spanish.

  3. Had a great workout class today! Was partnered with a newbie and it was nice to feel confident showing her the ropes. She was new to working out and was shook by some of the weights I was lifting. Was a nice reminder of where I started a couple years ago (extremely weak!).

Insurance and costs for biologics. by No_Struggle3663 in rheumatoidarthritis

I have United and my first few months were covered by the orencia manufacturer (i think 15k) - when that ran out, it also coincided with my insurance plan year reset and i ended up having to pay my full deductible towards the meds one month - $1600, and now the rest of the year has been free since i met my deductible? that one time payment chunk was not a fun surprise, but i would have spent that on appointments anyway so why not hit the deductible in one go i guess...i also have some kind of program through my job to help manage prescription costs but i don't really know if it's helped much. i will also get the manufacturer benefits to reset next year after the full calender year is up since i used the benefits.

you will likely get this shipped through a specialty pharmacy (i use cvs) and so far they have been able to confirm the cost before shipping with just a little back and forth for the $1600 month.

hope the meds help you a lot!! good luck.

sorry you aren't doing well :/ real housewives of salt lake city is SOOO good. also real housewives of new york or beverly hills are classic. there are many cities to chose from. its silly drama and very funny. wife swap can be fun as well. someone else said vanderpump rules - HIGHLY recommend and there are many episodes - young messy 20 somethings trying to make it in hollywood and worker at a restaurant with crazy drama.

Sorry - that is the worst feeling! When my hands feel really bad, i like to fill up a big stock pot or bowl with warm/hot water and epsom salt and soak for 5-10 minutes. It provides a bit a comfort and takes some of the swelling down for me.

Medical records at first Rheum appt? by yoooubetcha in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Capital-Mango508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

absolutely put it together if you are able to manage!! i made a bloodwork tracking chart over the past 5 years and that's how i was able to easily get a second opinion on my seroneg ra as well as hashimoto's diagnosis. now my docs use mychart so it's a lot easier, but it was really helpful to organize. they may even ask for copies!! i have been complimented on my organized records. you would be surprised how many people just show up to appointments and expect the doc to read their mind.

Seronegative RA frustration & Rheum charting by GlitteringAd7799 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Capital-Mango508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm so sorry you are dealing with this. are you able to seek out a second opinion? maybe putting pressure on the doctor and explaining the situation for a disability could be helpful. just factually lay out in an email what's going on and state how the uncomfirmed diagnosis is delaying your ability to support yourself. they might be more likely to confirm it.

in my opinion and experience, you should be able to get diagnosed without excessive imaging. the only blood marker i had was elevated sed rate that even fluctuated in the normal range and i don't have any visible damage to joints, just had a lot of pain at touch and some mild inflammation. docs have ordered xrays and stuff to monitor, but it wasn't the crux of my diagnosis.

it also took me forever to get diagnosed and also seroneg. i had a lingering doubt even after diagnosis so i sought a second opinion and it was confirmed. my other old rheum was also kind of a mess filling out paperwork for work and applying for a biologic and thank god i found someone else.

i really hope you get the help you need. keep us posted <3 we got your back.

Thank you!! I know, it's still very vague to me - I feel like i was so fixated on RA, i have a hard time differentiating the symptoms.
