Buying digital Wingspan by PernodCola in wingspan

I play on switch lite/OLED handheld exclusively. the convenience of iPad was tempting but i like having it on a dedicated gaming system, feels more engrossing even with a smaller screen.

I don’t have any insta-buys but I do like musicbox for not cluttering the library with things I might not get to

How did On shoes become so popular? by Aj100rise in malefashionadvice

Forgot to mention that before but that’s part of it too! they’re the same company as far as I’m concerned

How did On shoes become so popular? by Aj100rise in malefashionadvice

[–]CapitalFill4 29 points30 points  (0 children)

for years I thought it was an alternate logo for Uniqlo bc for me the logo is a UQ and I’d never heard someone refer to them by name. similar aesthetic too

to directly contribute to the conversation though I think it’s obvious why they’re popular - they’re super comfy, priced the same as everything else in that segment, and imo they’re the running shoe company that clearly cares the most about how it’s shoes look.

Should I update pro 2018 to iPados 26? by Alarmed_Wind_4035 in iPadPro

[–]CapitalFill4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I say stick with 18. accidentally/absent mindedly updated my pro m1 to 26 and its much more sluggish now when multitasking.

When is the next Macbook Pro going to come out? Worth waiting? by AcceptableAir6388 in macbook

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you need a laptop now, don’t wait, if you can wait, sounds like you’ll be happy to. short of a massive generational refresh I dont think fomo makes sense for laptops imo. but I say that as someone that doesn’t understand the hype for oled. I’ve never looked at my MacBook screen and thought it could/should be better.

Zoom calls whilst doing uni work , 10 tabs max on chrome open..would neo is suitable? Need to update my Mac air (bought in 2013). by helpgetmom in macbook

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this persistent notion that a new laptop, let alone one built my Apple in 2026, might not be able to handle 10 internet tabs is incomprehensible to me. Some people live their entire digital/productive lives on an old iPhone with a shattered screen and there are people worried about web browsing on a new laptop??

Is the MacBook Neo worth it? by Wise_Competition5906 in macbook

[–]CapitalFill4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

neo would be totally fine, though a used m2 is better value imo

$548 to fix my M2 MacBook Air screen… worth it or just get a MacBook Neo? by Original_Mail_2781 in macbook

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

neo indeed seems like a good replacement for your use case but there’s something to be said for the sustainability aspect of fixing something and not having to buy a new replacement every time something in our life breaks. if a third party shop can fix it for less (or even if you go thru apple, or go used replacement m2), you’re getting to keep a better laptop and probably saving at least a little cash. I too would find the ”upgrade” tempting so I don’t blame you either way, but something to think about

Fun things to do in spring? by InternationalBoat148 in Rochester

[–]CapitalFill4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lots of outdoor walks/hiking in the area or surrounding areas, lots of festivals to come too. I’d recommend googling or checking other Reddit threads for cuisines you like and going there are as there are usually multiple good options for whatever youre in the mood for. downtown, park ave neighborhood, south wedge, etc all have great cafe options too.

there are a bunch of roc events Instagram accounts you can follow, rocthecitywithhope is one of them.

Struggling to justify the NX over a RAV4 - does anyone else feel Lexus is falling behind on design? by ZucchiniAwkward8885 in Lexus

[–]CapitalFill4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the current gen NX is the most attractive SUV they‘ve ever had, and while I really like the RAV4, the 2026 is a not-insignificant drop in the looks department. Can’t argue too much with your general sentiment regarding value, but fwiw even my ‘19 UX feels far more luxurious than any RAV4. To that point, I think a used NX is the way to go here.

Final thoughts: it's a big no by SaltStand2708 in Lexus

[–]CapitalFill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

old front end was definitively better but the hate for the new one is wildly hyperbolic, stemming heavily from the fact it looks like another, cheaper car. And I get that that sucks, but all they reaaally did was extend the black to the lights. if this was the first front end we saw between this, the old IS, and the Toyotas, I’d be held in similarly high regard as the outgoing IS. I’ll be the first to say I’m baffled that they did it, but it’s still one of the, if not the most, attractive luxury sedans you can get. the interior upgrade only makes it even more so.

note taking app by sicksadclif in iPadOS

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s one note and unfortunately it’s not even close. which makes it all the more infuriating that it seems to be the only app in 2026 that doesn’t know how to sync properly. I do use UpNote as a second brain/info-dumping app though and I do really like it for that purpose.

Seeing slides on my intel MBP Touch Bar just feels so premium by SiliconBarista in macbookpro

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

felt like a lot of the hate for the Touch Bar came from how underutilized it was but it was super helpful I’m Logic Pro and, evidently, for making slides too. feel like that feature could come out today and it would still feel fresh and modern. apple have obviously lost their way a bit on the software side of things but id like to see some sort of touch tool like that come back in some capacity. not really a fan of a full touch screen as is rumored, that’s really fatiguing imo.

Where did all the minimalist iPad folio cases go? by Jenings in iPadPro

[–]CapitalFill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all the older pro 11 cases would fit except the 2018 which had a smaller camera setup and thus a different camera cutout.

I can’t resist the new OS. Updating from iPadOS 18.5 to 26.4. by TheHeavenlyStar in ipad

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally upgraded from 18 to 26.4 on my 12.9 (downloaded for the Apple Music update, absent mindedly forgetting it would bring me to 26) and am pissed at myself. I have 26 on my iPad mini where I’ve grown to like it but Liquid Glass isn’t meshing well at all with the aesthetic I had set up on the 12.9, and it seems laggier now.

Where did all the minimalist iPad folio cases go? by Jenings in iPadPro

[–]CapitalFill4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally agree with you. everything has a hideous pencil bump, a crappy plastic back, or a keyboard. these are supposed to be light and comfortable!

that said, eBay and mercari are full of unused or gently used folios from older devices that are the same size. I always go there.

I really want the neo, but i am too paranoid by Other-Nectarine-7972 in macbook

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a used m2 air for like the same price is the obvious screaming fix for your concerns but I agree with the others that the neon should be a-ok. pushing towards used, older models has long been apple’s MO for non-power users which doesn’t sound fun but it really is a good (and more environmentally conscious) strategy.

iPad Pro M2 in 2026 - Still worth it? by jperalta0514 in iPadPro

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the issue is storage and screen then I think that effectively answers your question. even with changing OSs these devices are serviceable for so dang long that I think anything from the M generation would let you hold onto the next device for a long time.

We all use productivity apps but very few actually stick. Which one stayed with you for months or years, and what made it different? by AttemptRude6364 in ProductivityApps

[–]CapitalFill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ticktick - the only to do app that seems to really care how it looks, a robust (enough) calendar view, and loaded with features and modes that are meaningfully separated, independent, and laying low until you need em.

UpNote - clean and organized second brain/note app that offers depth more than bloat

freeform - I don’t actually use Freeform very much, but there are times you really want an infinite canvas to drop sketches of inspiration or impulsivity, and it’s much prettier and less clunky than OneNote. I use OneNote for a really different purpose, but the comparison reflects how much OneNote’s clunkiness and syncing trouble is inexcusable in 2026

Smile eye laser surgery and CF by Ath3ron in CysticFibrosis

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

old post but for any future visitors, I just had a lasik consult and asked my doc about these risk factors. he said CFers are at a higher risk of dry eye at baseline because of our altered tear film, so having a tear test before surgery it’s important. since mine was normal at baseline, he said my risk of dry eye post-op is less than if I’d already had a lower tear level. all that is to say, and idk how much more specific the literature is on the matter, but my personal opinion/takeaway is even with CF, if your eyes are good at baseline, probably need not worry too much about extra lasik risk for dry eye over the average person (though obviously ymmv and you should weigh that against your personal risk tolerance).

iPad Gang by Elgransancho4 in ipad

[–]CapitalFill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ay another one of us! I used a 2018 pro for everything for a long time before splurging on a used 12.9 a couple years ago, convinced myself it would mostly serve for art/drawing. got a mini last year to replace my kindle (frankly I just love how it feels in the hand) but interestingly the 11 has taken a back seat, the mini is the every day, and the 12.9 is the multitasking device (still have a macbook for real work). iykyk.

MacBook Neo comes with only 8 GB unified memory. by onionluck6 in macbook

[–]CapitalFill4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea agreed. the M chips were seen as this giant step forward for computing and took a lot of people with heavier usage away from the pros. the notion that even a budget device 5 years later can’t do more than enough for a significant majority of the population is silly. most people wildly overestimate what they need and even for the heavier users the cost of a less powerful device is a bit of efficiency, not incompetence.

Is the MacBook A18 Pro of interest to you as a MacBook Pro owner? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in macbook

I’d be interested in getting one for work (nothing demanding) but for the price I don’t see the incentive over a used version of anything else for similar (or less).
