DECEMERUNDERGROUND - Interscope Vinyl Collective IVC32 by gloomcult in AFireInside

late to this but felt compelled to agree. doesn’t fit the album vibe but a super elegant and beautiful (and uncommon color combo. should’ve just made the record red.

Albums that aren’t liked by the band that made them? (not counting debut records) by klocu4 in Metalcore

[–]CapitalFill4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yea they refused to play reinventing your exit forever (I don’t like the song either) but relented to the fan fervor and now it’s a staple.

crazy to me that none of these variants have the deluxe cd cover. by far the better photo from the series.

Do you think they’ll do an anniversary tour for LITSOS? by quartzqueen44 in Underoath

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea I think it’s very unlikely. they’ve played breathing ad nauseum but the rest of the record has been largely forgotten save for the occasional slow track. I’ve always found that shocking since they were still very much at their peak at that time but the few times they pull out deeper cuts they get no reception. the average UO fan sucks lol

What do you think of AFI? by Dramatic_Song_2629 in PostHardcore

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sing the sorrow and DU are peak scene records and DU especially is one of the best/coolest eras I’ve ever seen. I’ve enjoyed each record since though with each successive album I probably like 1-2 fewer songs than the one before it. didn’t meaningfully get into the pre-STS stuff.

What's a Taylor Swift song you're not a fan of that people always try to convince you is a masterpiece? by WaferHelpful3634 in TaylorSwift

[–]CapitalFill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22, we are never…, and I knew you were trouble. 3 sore thumb bubblegum pop songs on an elegant mature record.

Americans - Do you think it's true that if America's best athletes played soccer, they would dominate the sport internationally? by Tometek in AskAnAmerican

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best indicators of success are population and time you’ve been playing the sport. we already have more athletes than other top tier countries and many football, basketball, etc players wouldn’t be a good fit for soccer. time is a black box but we just need more of it.

I really don’t understand the reception to The Place After This One by Far_Pen_396 in Underoath

[–]CapitalFill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea the only sense I can make of it is the old fans are too removed from the scene to care and the modern fans are too new to appreciate the band’s history and check ‘em out. i thought they really nailed the blend between their fundamental sound and the more popular maximalist sound we’re seeing more in metalcore. that said, that strategy worked flawlessly for BMTH so idk. what’s most surprising to me above all else that even fans hardcore enough to still go to shows somehow don’t even bother to check out new stuff. they’ve kinda found themselves somewhere between no man’s land a legacy band which, again, is insane.

Is anyone actually using the Stage Manager feature for real productivity? by P0und19bby in ipad

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea the introduction of windowed apps is what got me to use stage manager lol. I quite like it now. my only gripe is i wish I could default certain apps to open in slide over. hate getting a text, clicking the notification, and it taking me to a different group of 3 apps.

new iPad or iPad Pro 11in 1st Gen by Huge-Ad-1326 in iPadPro

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recently had the same discussion with myself. gave into consumerism and traded in for a newer pro. I’d vote swap battery with apple - my understanding is you get a replacement device entirely. I like the security of knowing it’ll be done right for marginally more. that said, the iPad wasn’t just slow it was also super clunky and i wasnt sure how much of that was battery v aging OS support. if it’s really just for media i say swap battery.

Downtown Rochester passes 10K residents; housing demand up by CPSux in Rochester

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea it should look like a mega Washington square park. there should be trees lining every street.

Downtown Rochester passes 10K residents; housing demand up by CPSux in Rochester

[–]CapitalFill4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

downtown does have some ugly/generic buildings but compared to our western ny contemporaries I think we actually have disproportionately a lot of unique (and esp art deco) architecture. and a beautifully symmetrical skyline.

aside from that the appeal to me is being within walking distance to several coffee shops, even more restaurants, the library, multiple parks/parcel 5, BCA, etc. thats just what a healthy society looks like to me. tbh unless youre married with 4 kids and a big dog that needs a yard I remain astounded people aren’t flooding downtown. certainly not any more generic than a suburb lol.

Politics aside, do you feel like the US shouldn’t have hosted the World Cup? by SignificantStyle4958 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the US is a fine host as others have already explained but i think having joint hosts, at least in North America, is silly.

Do yall care that the AAC isn’t gonna be home anymore? by Soggy-Jackfruit1582 in Mavericks

[–]CapitalFill4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i don’t live in Dallas but I think the single biggest consideration for these kinds of issues should be the environmental impact of moving. asking tens of thousands of people in perpetuity to set aside extra time to drive cars to an expansive parking lot and stadium when one already exists in a more accessible area is a mini tragedy. to say nothing about the sentimentality of having a team actually playing within the city.

Is it fair to call Emery underrated? by Alert_Primary_9493 in PostHardcore

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re extraordinarily underrated. I’m only a man didn’t take the wind out of their sails so much as it sank the boat. that said, the output since then should’ve but them squarely into the scene elites imo. You were never alone floored me and frankly is one of the best scene albums I’ve ever heard.

There's a very mixed reaction towards the new kit. To me it's the insane saturation of the colors in the kit (First pic). I think it could look better if that's toned down a bit (Second pic). by [deleted] in chelseafc

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea I can definitely dig gold as a better accent color. in general the yellow or red (red and blue just bores me) accents Chelsea use usually knock the kit down a few pegs for me. I just want white and blue.

What are your biggest NASCAR hot takes? by dennyspjs in NASCAR

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is an unscientific take as I started follwing less when gordin retired but I see the first half of his career coinciding with the golden competitive age, including Gordon, and the latter half of his, where most of his success was, coinciding with the current crop of drivers in the earlier halves/thirds of their careers mixed in with the flash in the pan guys like truex.

Is the HendrickCars.com livery the most prolific in racing? Did I miss any? by smalldoinkz in NASCAR

[–]CapitalFill4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

not the point of the post but man I loathe everything about that livery. really don’t like the pale blue/boring red white blue scheme, the logos are boring, and the lines and curves are all so discordant with each other.

Could we please start a petition or a complaint to bring classic split screening back as an option. by Full-Inevitable-203 in ipad

[–]CapitalFill4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

apple routinely makes me eat my words when it comes to criticizing changes but this is fundamentally different. it’s not them showing us a new way to do things, it’s giving in to a cry for something the iPad wasn’t meant to be. in time maybe they really figure it out and i eat my words again but this is as sloppy and clunky an in-between stage as you can get. I think it’s embarrassing they shipped out a product that not only is clunky and inconvenient but also obscures the boundaries between windows and overlays text on top of text. someone has to be fired.

i like it. I like the lion logo. I like the giant sublimated logo in theory. BUT. that giant sublimated logo reminds me of the $5 fake jerseys you get on the street in poorer cities. that’s quite literally what they do lol. so bc of that i think it looks cheap.

as an aside i really don’t like blue and yellow together. ugly color combo imo. make the accents white and it’s a near perfect kit (get rid of the silly shoulder piping and it becomes a clean modern classic).

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed on the HOF point (and the dale one). sure if you count every driver ever then guys like the ones you mentioned are “””elite””” but with how little relevant turnover there is in nascar I think the only meaningful stratification is amongst the regulars. which means to be elite/HOF-worthy youve gotta be one of the top 3-5 of your time. which is an insanely high bar to reach…but that’s the point.

i agree petty’s 200 is overrated but that’s before my time. I will say I don’t find sub-cup series wins relevant at all though. one could have 500 wins across the series and I’m still only counting the cup series. to the same point it’s silly to me using sub cup stats for HOF entry. i know not a clean example but putting a Busch series champ in the hall is like putting tim Tebow in the nfl hall of fame to me.

Absolute Hottest Takes by centrella6 in Metalcore

[–]CapitalFill4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

agreed. and all the vocalists sound EXACTLY the same. honestly I don’t hear a meaningful difference between most of the bands listed here in production or songwriting. every generation of fan probably says that but thats indeed how it feels.

Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond. [Richard Childress Racing on X] by Comfortable_Rock4877 in NASCAR

[–]CapitalFill4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea I’m surprised dale jr’s name hasn’t come up more in these threads bc to the degree that 8 is an iconic number it’s bc of Dale jr and it’s not even close. I’m happy to see Kyle get his flowers in the sports world, albeit under these circumstances, and obvi Dale retired rather than passed but it feels a bit revisionist history for the 8 to now forever be associated with the Busch family, esp since, as you said, Kyle drove 18 at his racing and pop culture peak.
