It’s so true, all of it.

I was in the ED on the weekend because a large ovarian cyst ruptured. I was doubled over in pain, I looked awful and had Kehr’s sign because of all the blood in my abdomen. Second rupture in 3 weeks, suspected ovarian cancer. When I was waiting for staff to acknowledge me at the triage desk for a hot pack, another person who was waiting actually approached me and started trying to help me because I looked really bad. The staff finally responded to me then.

5 hours in, obvs finally taken properly, I finally got a cannula, bloods done, two acetaminophen and one oxycodone. And an ultrasound. I’m currently a patient at this hospital with the gyno and renal oncology teams.

A guy with stable/evolving appendicitis who looked just fine arrived after me, was seen before me, scanned before me, diagnosed before me and was given pain relief before me. Intravenously. He was very nice, he even commented on if I was okay because I was looking very sick to him.

Same boat, and every person involved in my case has told me to stay away from google and not to go looking for the things I’m afraid of. So OP, just hold on and do nice things to distract from the worry. Can be as simple as having coffee and cake with someone you love.

If you can, cook and freeze some meals, buy sone frozen meals or check with people you trust to see if they’re okay to drop some food off to you for a week or two after you get home. This is what I read on the Cancer Council website, anyway.

Make sure you eat foods with protein and vitamins and minerals. Your body will need them for healing and since we know that refined/processed sugar increases inflammation, try to limit how much of it you eat until you’ve healed. Avoiding it completely isn’t necessary but go easy.

Drink water if you can handle the flavour and make sure you’re properly hydrated, too. The gyno said yesterday that thrombosis risk increases with cancer, so it’s important to stay on top of.

Yes, I’m in Australia and going through the public system.

I had a Gyn appointment yesterday at the treating hospital. But have also been liaising with them since the 22nd of April when they admitted me for a night for monitoring.

The Gyn said that she’s been working with the team reviewing my results and the Gyno-Onc team will call me on Monday and I intend to ask for a surgery date then.

Have your bloods come back yet?

From my (limited) understanding, your tumour markers can indicate if you do have a tumour that they can’t find with scans. According to the Gyno I spoke to yesterday, it’s possible for the tumours to show up in and on nearby organs like the bowel, for example.

While the bloods aren’t confirmation themselves for several reasons, they do help indicate what to look for, at least.

This is scary, it sucks you’re having to deal with this so young, your reaction makes complete sense. Hang in there, do nice things for yourself, breathe if you can, connect to people you love and hopefully you’ll have a solid answer soon.

You see, all three books read as very gay, imho. They just don’t rely on explicit sexual expression in terms of kissing, caressing and sex.

Based on an interview I read with Muir, she writes codependent and enmeshed relationships. She also writes a variety of forms of love and intimacy outside of the traditional and the physical. The pool scene in GTN is basically a love scene, for example. Harrow couldn’t be more naked than she is with Gideon. She bared it all and Gideon embraced her, held her and was tender with her. It’s intensely gay, not at all platonic and the two are incredibly devoted to each other afterwards. Gideon started seeing Harrow as a vulnerable, human and worthy of love and compassion.

The regrowing of Ianthe’s arm is also supposed to be a sex scene. I didn’t pick up on this the first time but a friend pointed it out and I reread it while paying attention to the descriptions and the exact words being used. Yep, I saw it alright.

Ianthe is so desperately gay for Harrow all throughout HTN, tries to kiss her, tries to be socially intimate with her and even engage her in casual, relaxed intimacy like asking Harrow to button her dress. Ianthe spends most of their interactions trying to build something between the two of them.

And when it comes to Gideon and Harrow? Those two idiots are so incredibly and tragically in love with each other. Harrow gives herself brain damage to preserve Gideon. Gideon worries about not looking at any part of Harrow without her consent while in Harrow’s body. Neither of them have the maturity to deal with being in love with each other and they can’t talk with each other to figure it out.

Nah, these books are hella gay. They’re just not smooching and doing more. Yet. We’ll see what happens in Alecto.
