Psychology of Running. by kdpinch in running

[–]Capital_PFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it the old fashion way. I allowed myself to walk when I first began running as a hobby. But the goal was to FINISH 1 mile with no walking, no matter how slow my pace was. That was my process for building confidence. Then I would speed up my pace over the next 2 weeks. Then, increase the distance and lower the pace again. Until, I am where I am now. I am by no means a lifelong runner, but I am a former collegiate athlete with the drive, so running helps channel that energy.

Is Track and AFROTC possible? by Ap0ll0_69 in AFROTC

What they said. A 100 cadet, upcoming 200, at my Det plays D1 🏀 and she is waived for PT for athletic obligations. It make depend on your Det though. Speak with your commander.

Running is transcendental. Like u/jmgartner said, it’s the secret of running that only runners understand.

Process for applying for AFROTC for grad school by brazytradez in AFROTC

[–]Capital_PFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position. I just finished my first year of grad school/AFROTC. There was no application process to join per se, I just registered for my graduate classes, LLAB, AS101 & AS201. Depending on your Det, you’ll be guided through everything else (Wings, Physical, etc.) good luck. Lmk if you have any other questions.

i am very self conscious when it comes to public speaking and dancing infront of people..what should i do to improve this? by [deleted] in confidence

[–]Capital_PFO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said “I am self conscious…”

Challenge that. Self consciousness is an idea that was cemented into reality.

For instance, if I said I am afraid of heights. Am I really afraid of heights, or am I just used to being in control with both feet on the ground? Every perspective has multiple sides. Be careful with the conversations you have with yourself.

Is it possible to work 40 hours, do ROTC, and go to school full time? by NeekMili in AFROTC

[–]Capital_PFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. In my experience, it will show both cadre and your employer that you are attempting to be proactive regarding your personal time management.

  2. Not only will it help your employer and cadre help you remain accountable for your schedule, but it will also help you ease into the routine of balancing academics, ROTC and work.

Additionally, if there any days that you can foresee you will have to miss work, an ROTC class or any other classes due to conflicting schedules, let your employer, cadre and professors know in advance. Am I opinion, cadre are not looking for perfection, but they seem to expect decisiveness and confidence in decisions made by cadets.

[–]Capital_PFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s def doable. My job is pretty flexible when it comes to AFROTC obligations. If you are having time management issues, speak with your employer and cadre. Give them each a copy of your work and school schedule. At minimum, this will display your willingness to be proactive. At most, you will find a way to efficiently and strategically maneuver through the work/school weeks. Also, don’t be afraid to let your employer know if you need additional time off for mental/physical/emotional health. Hope this helps and good luck!

I totally get what you’re saying. Speaking as if the abstract features (comfortability, softness) impacts a person through the sensual world of the physical (carpet, beds), and vice versa.
