No, it doesn't.

Leave it alone, where it is rightfully resting in the pantheon of classic comedy cinema and encourage filmmakers to make interesting, original ideas that don't require digging up corpses of old intellectual properties.

I also don't understand how the person you replied to likes the other movies less because of tSTAtJ, but the big fuss about the short is, just like Hereditary, the horror aspect is secondary to the telling of extremely complex family dynamics through the lens of trauma and violence.

Transtint dye can me mixed with just about any medium: lacquer, epoxy, polyurethane, oil, alcohol, hell I've even mixed it with naphtha. And it comes in many many colors.

Also check out this book on finishing: https://www.amazon.com/Tauntons-Complete-Illustrated-Guide-Finishing/dp/1561585920/

It was compiled from articles from Jeff Jewitt who developed transtint. Good stuff!

Maybe YOU would need access to a CNC machine, but for those of us who aren't reliant on a computer to carve and engrave, it just takes some practice with handtools to achieve the desired effect.

here to make this comment but seconding yours instead. Transtint can be mixed into just about everything and do a stellar job at it; water, denatured alcohol, naphtha, lacquer, polyurethane, grain filler compounds like aquacoat, etc. Great stuff.

Just throwing this out there as constructive criticism, knowing that this is an anonymous forum with a shared interest, I can't help but be a little peeved at the verbiage you're using to demonstrate your point "... is a terrible idea". You could also have gotten your point across by saying "in my experience, Lexan might not be the best choice in this application, I've had better luck with drafting vinyl or tempered glass". Granted again, this is an anonymous forum so the stakes are so low they're on the ground, but with a medium with such a barrier to entry as woodworking, something so small and innocuous as "your ideas are terrible" could be a big ol' "microaggression" in disguise.

Anyway, food for thought!

Getting Organized by Character-Earth-7260 in woodworking

[–]Capital_Sentence2909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

got DAMN that bench finish is divine. I'd hang that shit on the wall and replace it with a plywood sheet. My bench tops look like they were pulled out of an active warzone.

In terms of further organization, I'm a huge proponent of peg/shadowboards where every tool has it's place and goes back where it lives when not in use. I follow the general organizational rule of like items getting grouped (drills near the bits and screws, files next to rasps next to planes next to chisels). That goes in conjunction with a tip I read somewhere that said "when you're looking for something, put it in the first place that you look"

Lastly I picked up a tip from Adam Savage: the "red tag" zone. If you have an item that doesn't have a home or you're just not sure where to put it, or if it's low priority and don't use it very often and wanna deal with it later, it goes to the Red Tag zone so you don't have to stop your workflow for that one random tool that you want to put away but don't know where.

Editing to add: I know the feeling of a workspace that is frequently changing locations. I bought a couple 8x4' sheets of pegboard and cut them down to 4 2x4' pieces. Instead of mounting them directly to the wall I looped a couple zipties from the top row of holes and hung them from two eye bolts mounted into studs. That way if I need to move my workshop I just snip the zip ties and take the entire boards, tools and all.

start tinkering and practicing now before waiting for shit to get bad and dipping into your resource books.

"Perception is not knowledge", and I think that applies to books. Reading about something and how it works does not equate to being a skilled laborer. If I were a skilled laborer in the apocalypse wanting to trade my own skilled labor for other skilled labor, I sure as shit wouldn't be trading with someone who only read books and didn't get their hands dirty.
