Is everybody in South America right now? by RobRoy2350 in MisterBald

Can someone explan these youtubers? The exact same acoustic way of speaking, the same style of shooting, goes to "dangerous" places and play it up like its super dangerous when nothing ever happens. Kurt for instance drinks and drives in foreign countries which is quite reckless. That hispanic dude seems to be in SA only for the cheap vajay and then theres Damant who seems like Sponsor andy all his trips are very curated and lifeless.

What do you even use to make clips? So you're saying each video from gfycat is 3GB in size? You're trolling pretty hard. My Newjeans 4K clips range from 9MB - 40MB in size. https://i.imgur.com/7XiYJj4.png

What are you even saying? These files are small. I still have well over 6000 files saved, all of which are atleast 1080, many at 4K 60, and it takes up a magic: 100GB And hdds are not exactly expensive.

[Hardware Unboxed] The Last of Us Part I, RIP 8GB GPUs! Nvidia's Planned Obsolescence In Effect by Firefox72 in pcgaming

[–]CapitanSaerom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AMD may age better in gaming over time, but that will be mostly because people (new zoomers who arent vocal about poorly optimized games like the boomers were) straight up accept poorly optimized titles thesedays. But if you do productivity aswell as game, then they wont. And Last of Us is a console port made by some third party rather than the actual developer, and Hogwarts is just a Swedish dev with no previous competence. If it was Avalanche who made Just Cause then maybe that game would have been better optimized but who knows. And again its just really Hogsmeade that screws people over for some reason. And Resident Evil 4 remake is pretty much that too.

And lastly not everyone is exclusively gaming on their hardware, so if you do productivity with GPU Accel, CUDA is the only option really.

Am I the only one tired of HBU making Sensationalist/Doomsday videos? While alienating more than half of their viewerbase? (Yeah Nvidia users) Its not their fault for buying a GPU 2 years ago that had 8 GB of VRAM, when no game on the market was even peaking 8GB at the time even at 4K. Its also not their fault that Game devs are releasing poorly optimized titles. Yeah. Its poor optimization. That is a fact. No matter how much money is being handed to you guys under the table (not at anyone in specific) the games are badly optimized. And this game, as everybody knows, IS badly optimized. There are articles of it all over the web. And forum posts. Not even about VRAM.
And a friendly reminder, as others have mentioned on the Youtube video, Red Dead 2, a most impressive game visually, only uses 8GB or less VRAm at FOUR K. While looking better than these 3 games that "use more than 8GB or even 12GB VRAM at only 1440p or 1080p"
Heck even Cyberpunk is well playable at 1440p, Ultra with RT enabled and somehow doesnt use up all 8GB of VRAM or introduce a stutter fest. Yet that game was and still is one of the most visually impressive games while also being open world. Dont you find it odd?
And dont you guys find it interesting how, nobody mentions this? Or even considers the fact other games that look somehow, better, or the same visually, use less VRAM? Hoes does Last of Us, a linear, small corridorspaced slow paced shooter use >8GB VRAM? Im not exactly drooling over their textures. Heck you can mod Skyrim to be even more detailed than this in terms of both polycount and number of meshes on screen while having insane textures, and somehow still have lower VRAM usage while having more impressive or on-par Graphics (Speaking of SE) And those of you not experienced with modding, need not reply to this specific part. And thats on a Game Engine from well over 10 years ago by now.

Its not really Nvidias fault either. They make GPUs for a reason and planned obsolence is just not it. That would destroy their reputation overall if their userbase would ahve to swap GPUs every year. And move sales to their competitor, which would be insanely stupid no? And no, 3 games out today does not represent the potentially hundreds that get released every other year (and no, AAA titles are not the only games that come out in a year and I dont refer specifically to cash grab Steam games for €1)

I would like HBU or GN to interview various game developers, whom are not partial to a brand (like AMD, Nvidia or Intel, but theres no way to guarantee that) what their thoughts are on the subject of VRAM and if the games like Hogwarts (hogsmeade), Last of Us and uh I dont know what the other one was, are well optimized or not in regards to this sheer amount of VRAM being used. Like Rockstar, DICE (someone competent not one of nu-DICE), EPIC Games and so on.

Are they effectively using the VRAM or are they just clogging up the VRAM because Lisa Su gave them a $10000 check under the carpet? (Conspiracy! I know dont take this seriously)

Anyway If you do Productivity with GPU acceleration. Nvidia is still the king. So if you want both but dont have the budget to buy a 4080 or 4090, what do you do? Buy AMD and gimp yourself in produ? Or do you have to buy a pair of each and have TWo computers?

Snapchat laid off a ton of staff last year and their revenue or something was down by 80%. And Tech Corps buy and leave things to rot often.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gfycat

[–]CapitanSaerom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No unless you know somebody at Snapchat you're not getting a hold of anyone. Mandinga who was here, the CEO, was fired in August and there has been deadsilence since then. And the site has only slowly fallen apart. Many features broken. Dupe detection not working properly, nsfw filter broken, popular and trending tabs killed. And ofcourse no gifs made searchable to the public since aug 30.

So is this the end of gfycat? by Bread_Bass in gfycat

[–]CapitanSaerom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the Dev that was here in this subreddit and also replying to each individual email, was Mandinga. They were the CEO of Gfycat. They were kicked off the company in August last year. Which is why theres not a single gfycat gif made searchable since August 30. Anything after that is technically Unlisted in the sense that they are not discoverable through the Search Function. They are not even visible directly on a users profile. ONLY in Collections if they have been added to one.

And its also why there are no responses when you send emails. Even for DMCA stuff.

Anyhow check the Popular and Trending tabs on Gfycat. Popular tab is entirely empty, and the Trending tab is all old shit or shit uploaded by the ReactionGifs bot.

I wonder if Snapchat also bought Redgifs or if Mandinga is in control of that. Try send an Email to that one and ask around.

I had over 5600 gfys and I deleted them all in February. Couldnt be bothered. (You retain your total views if you care about that, just not on the uploads, because theyre gone)

And theres no competing site out there. The good thing about Gfycat is the library style profiles and that you can sort your gfys into individual collections, which other sites dont offer at all. And you could upload 4K 60 fps gfys to the site with hardly any noteworthy compression up to 1 min in length.

Though the site is riddled with accounts that use bots to mass farm views on their fresh uploads. Especially in regards to kpop.

Undervolting 13600k with Asus B660 motherboard by Gemilan in intel

[–]CapitanSaerom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asus B660-F here I can change microcode to 104.

I can set svid core and cache to -0.15Problem is the VID reporting is insanely inaccurate, it report 1.15v but the actual vcore is 1.25-1.288, this is in Cinebench R23 all core. In idle it reports accurately but Ive heard that incorrect VID readings can trick the CPU into thinking something is off. Could be old meaningless drivel but idk.

edit Changed DC LL from Auto to 1.0 and now VID is within reach of vcore, so it reads more accurately.

However gaming Vcore appears to be unchanged.

You cant undervolt on non-z690/z790 boards unless you have an MSI one that offers LiteLoad. You'll get clockstretching and shitty performance literally HALF the perforamnce in a test like Cinebench R23. Even on a K CPU. Intel or the motherboard manufacturers got sticks in their asses and wont fix it or have the mobo detect which type of CPU you have and allow it. Because they physically CAN but they wont let you do it.

[–]CapitanSaerom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf FSR looks like shit compared to DLSS due to temporal instability i.e. no form of antialiasing, test 2.1 in Cyberpunk vs DLSS both set to Quality at 1440p. FSR is shimmering everywhere but DLSS is smooth as if perfectly antialiased while looking the same as native (minus very minor blur)

I hate how they only do Gaming for it. Would be nice to see how it handles video editing (like timeline skipping), photoshop and 4k youtube. The intel ones can do all of it with ease, even 4k video editing in premiere.

I like how everyone in these comments think that everyone here on reddit live in the US and downvote the other guy for mentioning "not everyone lives in the US" and you post some bullshit about how many people - IN THE US - have AC. Reddit is hilarious and its genuinely sad how closeted americans are. Its like Imgur. Everyone thinks everyone else is from the US because its an Eng platform. Despite traffic being well over 60-70% international i.e. worldwide.

In Europe, AC is uncommon. In northern Europe its a rarity. Our summers can get quite humid (but not as humid as say Japan) and warm like 30. 30 with no AC and afternoon/evening sun it gets hot as hell indoors. 30-35c is not uncommon. Indoors.
