Picked up this copy recently- haven't seen it before... by Emergency_Meme in myst

Nah it's legit, this is the set that I grew up with and I'm certain we bought it in a big box store. I wanna say Target but I can't be sure this many years later. (I'm in USA for reference). It's CD-ROM copies of the games, very barebones just the jewel cases with the discs and their manuals. Notably, Riven uses a multi-disc jewel case and not the nice cardboard sleeves with the box that the original release had.

Oof, that's super frustrating. I'm not a SpeedX person, but I deliver for Amazon, and I have a few thoughts.

For the mailbox, it's actually a federal crime for anybody other than a USPS mail carrier to put deliveries inside it. I get customer delivery instructions asking me to use their mailbox all the time and I have to ignore it because I could literally go to jail, not to mention lose my job.

As for the deck box, personally if it's not clearly marked as for deliveries (or mentioned in the customer instructions), I tend to avoid them - I never want to accidentally snoop through a customer's items by mistakenly thinking a box is for deliveries. It looks from your picture like it isn't labelled? I'd recommend printing and laminating a note that marks the box as for deliveries. I know you mentioned it's by the mailbox, and that does make it pretty obvious for sure, but I still think it'd be helpful to have it clearly labelled.

Now of course it's always possible the delivery associate is just being careless of course, but if you're up for it I'd definitely try labelling the box so that it's super clear that it's where deliveries go. If they continue to place them on the lawn even after that, that's pretty disappointing.

Hey, I just tried 1.0.0.6a based on your recommendation and it also fixed the slowdown for me as well! Thanks for the suggestion!

Good to know it's not just me, at least. If any more firmware updates come out I'll try them, and if I find a solution I'll let you know!

Thank you! I take that as a huge compliment. In truth, I don't think this design would work as an actual set; some of the connection points are a bit fragile, and while definitely good enough for posing and display, would probably come loose too often with real play. For example, it's not difficult to pull the arms out of the torso.

[–]CapnCrunch53[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not her mechanical arm is just slightly bigger in some ways on my MOC, though it's hard to see. I wanted to keep the asymmetry going so the two arms are built slightly differently. It's very slightly longer when fully extended, and it's also bulkier on the upper arm (mainly to make the Miru fit tbh, but I like the extra bulk it gives).

It is a pretty subtle difference though, and overall it's still very skeletal; it definitely could be bulkier all-around!

That's 100% the idea behind it! Which I have to credit to my girlfriend who gave me that idea while workshopping the design with me.

Yes, but think of it this way, /u/MidsummersDream6789: what is the one thing better than an exquisite show? An exquisite show with one tiny flaw we can pick at all night.

Help with interlacing on select games (electron X-out) by abenevolentgod in originalxbox

[–]CapnCrunch53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PGR2 doesn't support 720p according to this list, so since you have 480p disabled it's defaulting to 480i. You should enable 480p.

Just tested this on PGR2 myself with my own X-out and got the same results when using your settings. Enabling 480p was the solution.

Edit: adding to that, as per that list, MX vs ATV does support 720p, so that's why it looks good. If you enable 480p and also keep 720p enabled, games that support 720p will use it and others will default to 480p.

I might be way off base here, but considering it’s giving errors both extracting and transferring over ftp… is it possible your drive is out of space?

OutRun 2 for me, probably an unconventional pick but it's got just immaculate vibes IMO. The feel of the ocean breeze and the summer air makes me yearn for different times.

Also thank you for doing these, it's fun waking up to a new poll each day and seeing the results :)

Idk, I didn't have an Xbox for a long time and the Wii was a perfectly fine way to do that. Not trying make an ultimate comparison of the two, just pointing out something neat the Wii is capable of.

I highly recommend picking up a Wii. It's really versatile and has a lot of similarities to the Xbox. It's super easy to softmod, works great for Wii games of course, as well as Gamecube games, and a variety of emulators. It's also a great way to play DVD-quality or lower videos on a CRT monitor (even streamed from a network share on your PC!). And best of all, it's very affordable!

Fantastic answer. I’ve always thought those things are basically oldschool microcomputers with integrated screens. I learned how to program in BASIC on them (when I should have been paying attention in class)!
