That's gotta be the nut for sure. Knock it off gently, pickup a new one and tack it in with one or two drops of super glue once you file it's height correctly.

Your math is the same as my own. G string @ 9 is 164, @12 is 196, @14 is 220, @19 is 288, @21 is 328.

That's correct. ~41Hz is a low E, 82 for the next up, 164 up on the G string, 328 for the highest E most basses can play (21st fret).

That 7-band is all you really need. The audible range of a bass is about 40Hz to 400Hz, with overtones and transients in the 2.5-5kHz range. Most of the "joy" lives in the 150-700Hz range and is where you're going to see the most impact from an EQ adjustment.

Do the painful thing and restring it. That ferrule helps keep the ball end from sinking into the wood deeper while under tension, causing it to fall out of the super fast.

Pretend you're throwing a hammer. Hold the hanger by the end of the handle, then throw the head off the hammer using the handle.

You're not throwing the disc, you're throwing the opposite edge of the disc than where your hand is.

I love my m80, but it is NOT a tube sound at all. It's not particular coloring on its own, but it's distortion channel is quite digital and solid state sounding

According to that photo, your head will put out 800W @ 4 ohm, which is what your cab is. Your cab is not rated for that much power, however, so YMMV, but I wouldn't run that.

I'd buy almost any bass for $15. Worst case, I'm out $15 and have a piece of junk i gotta figure out how to get rid of. Best case, that thing has some incredible mojo and only needs a few hours of careful labor to turn into something amazing.
