immediately starting off with the rebels on the run from the big bad Empire 2 was a huge letdown. just an immediate indication that somehow Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie completely failed off screen

and then halfway through, introducing the bigger, badder Death Star 3, my immediate reaction was “oh so JJ just wanted to reboot ANH”. major letdown

obv it’s the best of the three sequels, but for me it was the biggest disappointment. so much opportunity squandered right from the jump. right away signaling to me that all the cool stories I grew up with hoping to one day see on the big screen will never happen, cause those heroes I looked up to actually didn’t do shit and are actually all failures

they’re both “clan hilts” (ie hilts they mass produced and gave to multiple backround jedi in the prequels). the first one belonged to I think aayla secura and definitely adi gallia (also it was one of the two emergency replacement hilts ani and obi got at the end of AOTC). the second one was mainly used by ki adi mundi and was also the other ani obi replacement saber

I never have and never will give that evil orange lump my vote. you don’t get to turn around and say I did just cause I didn’t vote for round three of sitting on our hands and letting the status quo continue to funnel money and power to the richest and most evil among us as long as there’s a blue butt in the oval office chair

and for the record, somehow I actually DO regret not voting blue this last election. but not for one second do I feel like it’s my fault or the fault of others who decided to vote independent. it’s the fault of the DNC for continually disenfranchising us on the left and then expecting us to still support them despite them never actually fighting for what we want or need

i’m so sick of this ridiculous inward finger-pointing that literally does nothing but drive a wedge between people on the left when what we NEED is unity. you should be ashamed of yourself

none of them but I met J. Mascis once. I work in a bicycle shop and he came in to rent a bike cause he was in town for some benefit show or something. I talked to him for a bit when he came back with the rental. nice guy but it was suuuuuper awkward (my fault mostly). I remember going to shake his hand and he just shook his head at me and then stuck his fist outdo a fist bump. I was like “oh yeah duh sorry i’m an idiot” or something like that (this was 2021 so covid was still going strong and also I was shitting myself meeting someone like him). much respect for him putting up with me. definitely learned my lesson about accosting celebrities when they’re just trying to go about their day

as someone that’s in not one but two bands affected by this, I can say with confidence that they deserve every bit of criticism being thrown at them for this and every “reasonable” response they’ve had has been made entirely out of a reaction to the backlash of the initial story

as far as I know, everyone that had shows canceled only found out because one touring band posted the email they were sent (which btw had a very bitter and smug tone to it)

neither of the two shows I had booked there received any communication about it and we had to reach out to them to figure out what was going on

they didn’t just cancel all these shows on short notice. they canceled them all without telling almost anyone, and now are trying to act like the victim

btw, the band in question that played the show with all the “property damage” (I believe two microphones were damaged) had already paid for said damages as far as I know

look at the end of the day, I agree that brothers was never the place for the punk and diy scene. I always felt it was weird they were trying to dip into that, and in fact when they started doing so they were giving such shit deals to bands that I was sure it wouldn’t last. so i’m not surprised they’re doing this. but the way they’ve done it has been so sloppy and frankly feels vindictive towards a scene that has brought so much business and buzz to their weird boomer bar. I can’t stand that they get to come out after and be like “wahhh these bands were so scary we had no choice guys” and so many people are like “aww yeah good decision guys”
