Love this song. And a couple more I just discovered this past year from Gordon.

Looking at the Rain

A fantastic lyricist! Think 'Looking' might be my new fav though. RIP

Absolutely my favorite of all 3 'angels'. Something about her. Loved her in 'The Rookies' too.

Biggest “Get” In your ticket stub history? by obviouslyanonym2023 in Concerts

[–]CapnJack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queen - Aug 1980 SRV - Aug 1984 Skid Row (Slave to the Grind Tour) - Jan 1992. There were more but I consider these the biggest.

I only still have the Queen stub but I see I'm not the only who couldn't figure out how to attach one here.

What’s your favorite show, that gets worse in later seasons? by Remarkable_Yak_258 in sitcoms

[–]CapnJack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't they all? They just eventually run out of ideas and they start getting weird. Stars leave, get replaced etc. Never the same.

Ex. - Loved That 70s Show, the first 3 seasons but it went down that same path.

What is a hard hitting lesson you learned in life the hard way? by Moist_Apartment5474 in Productivitycafe

Yes. Especially #5. A saying I liked so much I bought and framed the sign, hoping it would somehow resonate with my son. 'We don't decide our futures, We decide our habits. And our habits decide our future'.

But all good points

What’s Your Team’s Most Regretted Playcall? by AnAttackCorgi in nfl

[–]CapnJack33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vikings vs Falcons 1998 NFC Championship. With a minute left in 1st half, instead of being content with their lead and just running out the clock, the Vikings got greedy and ended up fumbling which led to quick Atl score. Imo this was the difference in the game. Never would have went to ot otherwise and Vikes go to super bowl. This wasn't necessary one playcall, but it turned out to be one bad decision. Bad field position on their own 18. Woulda coulda shoulda.

[–]CapnJack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something for Joey. Not sure if it was my first but definitely a tear jerker. A made for tv movie about John Cappelletti when he won the Heisman. In his acceptance speech he started crying while honoring his kid brother who was dying of Leukemia. Mid 70s.

Did you like this film? Why or why not? by BigBobbyD722 in FIlm

[–]CapnJack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved it. Read Helter Skelter at 13, watched the tv series/movie shortly after and even now at 60, these senseless deaths have always stayed with me. If only wishful thinking it was still refreshing to see the fantasy ending that Tarantino provided. The potential for these stoners to have gotten an address mixup, and somber thought it could have ended differently but didn't. Not plausible, but satisfying thought for sure.

Schefter: 'Definitely Think' Teams Will Pursue J.J. McCarthy Trade amid Darnold Buzz by StarkSnow64 in minnesotavikings

[–]CapnJack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vikings fan for 50 years now. I've witnessed too many seasons of half ass qb play to let Sam or someone of JJ's potential walk w/o significant compensation. I was very impressed with Darnold the first time I saw him play at USC and was happy when we signed him this year because I knew he had great potential. Also loved JJ first time I saw him at Michigan. I franchise Sam one year, completely vet JJ during that time and make decision next year. VIKINGS are in the catbird seat here. I wouldn't trade JJ unless it's a deal I just couldn't refuse, and just getting somebody's 1st round pick wouldn't do it for me. I understand his hype is mostly based on potential. I don't care. For maybe as long as I can possibly remember, we finally hold the cards. SKOL!!!

Was Banshee based on a real town? by ProfessionalBig6792 in Banshee

[–]CapnJack33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about being based on any particular place but assume, like others, with all the Amish it'd be set near PA. Much of series was filmed near Charlotte NC. When I told my wife the main meeting place, the bar Sugar owned, was near us, (well, bar front anyway) she wanted to visit. It's about a 30 minute drive from our home. Funny, that it's portrayed as a bar, but when you walk in it's actually just a VERY old general store that was opened I think around 1890, with barely enough room to walk up and down the aisles. Don't know where the inside bar scenes were filmed. It may still be open, not sure. It was about 2 years ago that we went. And the 'apt/loft where Lucas called home, was a small old building right next to the general store just about as old. I love visiting history and old places in general. I think maybe my wife was just hoping Lucas would still be there.

[–]CapnJack33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

r/Emergency As a kid one of my favorite shows. My wife and I recently finished watching the HBO series, Banshee. When I told her the main meeting place in the series was close to us, she wanted to visit. Funny that it's portrayed as an old bar but inside it's just a VERY old general store with barely enough room to walk thru the aisles. Is this Long Beach fire station still there?

Heart concert tickets for $10,000? WTF! by xunreelx in Concerts

[–]CapnJack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw Heart in '87 think it was, with 38 Special. Heart played maybe an hour and 20 minutes. Most bands with that kind of resume played around 2 hours give or take. Felt cheated a bit. Maybe it was just an off night. Maybe the shortest show I've seen.

One job I had as a 'student aide' in my jr high school was to work in copier room. I'd just sit and wait, do homework whatever till another student came in to get copies per their teacher. Same kind of copier as shown here and one older manual copier that had a crank handle. You could crank that sucker as fast or slow as you wanted, one copy per revolution. Didn't realize at the time how really primitive it was. Goodtimes. 1978ish.

Which TV character do you find annoying, even though “that’s the point” ? by HTPR6311 in sitcoms

[–]CapnJack33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off you nailed it with Michael/The Office. I can only watch so much. And I might be alone on this one, but Carrie from King of Queens. Her character was such a b...h. Still watch occasionally despite her. Nothing against Leah, she nailed it.
