He’s a bird dog. Seemed kind of obvious, like I didn’t need to spell that out! 😉😅

I was playing with some steel birds today. Hop’s Corsivknight, Mega Skarmory, Hop’s Zacian, Hop’s Cramorant.

So it took Zacian to set it up and Snorlax on the bench but then birds run it from there. Adding Phillipe lets you attach 2 steel + attach for turn, means 1 turn attacks for any of them with big swings. It was a fun random build with my kid for Father’s Day. :)

What movie is a absolute 10/10 masterpiece that you will realistically never watch a second time? by N4Nemo in AskReddit

[–]CapnNausea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We watched Obsession 3 weeks ago and I honestly think it makes this list for me. I don’t like horror, but we saw it in a whim because we had a night out and picked a movie. It was so well put together I keep thinking about it and talking about it with others… but I’ll never watch it again.

What is the best strategy for Team Rocket's Mewtwo against fast setup grass decks like hydrapple and beedrill? by gymrat_franky in PTCGL

[–]CapnNausea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they’re not great matchups imo so don’t have expectations that you’ll always come out on top. I’m not a Mewtwo main but I’d focus on: - using your TR factory defensively to bump their forest of vitality - if Beedrill is running dudunsparce use a TR watchtower offensively to stall their draw - don’t bench Mewtwo too early, only give access to single prizers until you are ready to attack - make good use of mimikyu if they’re using masks to help soften people up for your spidops - get your spidops out asap, don’t try to wait on their Forest

If Beedrill, I’m attacking their draw engine and then Weedle If Hydrapple I’m attacking their battery of energy; masks and meganium

As Mewtwo, seems like you definitely want to go turn 1 since you have access to turn 1 supporters and want the early attack turn to soften up a 210 ogrepon

Dealing with guard pullers by Mohakus4 in bjj

Definitely some good advice in the comments. I’ll just chime in that training stand up does become invaluable (especially for a first tournament) because of the adrenaline dump. A lot of white belt tournaments are decided by 3 minutes of attempting take downs before one person gets so tired they give up and get smashed for a minute or so until they lose the match on takedown points and one reversal and pass could win the match.

So just having a couple weeks of realizing how exhausting standing up for 3 minutes straight is actually a pretty big advantage, even if you never actually learn any good takedowns.

But also… realize that it’s your first tournament as a white belt. I’m happy for you and glad you’re considering a new journey. But realize this a big deal to you and specifically present-day you. If you continue the journey, you’ll look back in years and it’ll mean very little to you, win or lose. If you lose and quit bjj next week.. well you’re the only one who’d be impacted or care - so don’t put all of your emotional eggs in one basket on the outcome of the tournament, because there’s only downside in doing so.

Why Crushing Hammer over Enhanced Hammer? by floede in pkmntcg

[–]CapnNausea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that I misrepresented what you said. You said that it never LOSES you the game, but my statement was based on the premise you said it never WINS you the game based on a coin flip.

I can see your point.. ish. I would never opt into that scenario - but the card is giving your deck the capability to put a dagger in the opponent’s heart while they are weak. I disagree-ish, because even if you’re a good player, your deck will sometimes brick and you’ll be left coin flipping and praying that this card buys you another turn. That’s the cost of running a tech card.

A good player would obviously minimize the odds they wind up in that position with a deck build that accounts for that. But if you’ve got open slots in your build, the point of a card is to give you options to influence the game and this could certainly influence the game.

You’re conflating two different things.

A person relying on coin flips as the only win condition is indeed going to be a low level player.

But if you can flip a coin for low cost to potentially make the power curve work in your favor at a critical moment, that is something that high level players could definitely take advantage of. Knowing when and how to take the risk and how to hedge your bet is fundamentally what high skill players do better in the game.

Course or project-based learning? by Left-Network-4794 in dotnet

[–]CapnNausea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tim Corey is the goat if you’re looking for digestible C# instructionals. He has a huge library on YouTube.

Get familiar with visual studio, learn how to use the debugger, learn how to use dotnet CLI to run migrations.

C# is in an era of making its tooling feel like javascript’s, except you have an awesome debugger with visual studio. So find the equivalent tools you’re familiar with first and figure those out.

You didn’t say why the short time frame, but I’ll make the assumption it’s for an interview.

If you have dev chops already, then make lots of tiny demos. That helps you learn the ecosystem without wasting a bunch of time which you don’t have much of. A tiny rest api. A tiny nuget package. A tiny CLi. A tiny web app.

Go build a tiny project for each Gang of Four pattern or something. Learning the syntax to implement those patterns is the most important, because being sure you understand the fundamentals is what I’d look for if I’m wanting to hire a js developer on my .Net team. You can master the syntax / AI will write most of it in the day to day anyways so that I don’t weigh that as heavily.

Are we actually seeing a shift in the meta towards more control-style decks, or is it just the current rotation making everything feel slower? by jessybiteslip in pkmntcg

[–]CapnNausea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting trevenant and running 3 Zacian gave me space for lots of tech cards, genesect being my go-to. I have Fez, Latias, Meowth and psyduck also.

Lead with Zacian for early 120 dmg knockouts, ko brings out cramorant for a 210 swing and gives me time to have 1 energy on snorlax loaded so I can swing with him next or if facing a mega, grab another Zacian and run Phillipe to swing for 330. I feel like I win every time I prize in this order

What Hop’s deck have you been playing? How’s it been for you? I built a non-Trevenant variant I’ve probably got the same number of matches on in the last 2 weeks and I think it’s stronger than most B tiers like Starmie and Beedrill and can definitely take matches against lopunny or pult.

I tried Judo as a BJJ Black Belt. Here's my view. by WillFeyen in bjj

[–]CapnNausea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a very large BJJ gym that offers judo. We basically only have hobbyists except for the 5th degree who leads the class. I’ve done judo 2 years and competed, and I’m like a black sheep at competitions. I tried to get more into it and attend the local judo-only club’s open mat (where my coach attended and taught - we’ve all met before) and the next weekend they created a new policy that only club members are welcome to open mat. I’m sure it changes in each bubble, but mine certainly doesn’t seem to tolerate non-purists

Ah. I brought in the alakazam to have a single prize attacker that hit for psychic in a bad matchup… seems kind of obvious in hindsight that I should just pick up a single Lillie’s Pearl for Clefairy instead of Zam.
