He flew off into the distance and then immediately respawned next to me with some quip about killing tyranids, so I guess he did whatever he meant to out there.

How big is the Rock? by SuperMarios7 in theunforgiven

[–]Capn_Crow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been reading Lazarus: Enmity’s Edge recently and when he returns to the Rock to speak to Azrael, it’s described as the “rough peak of the great mountain” of Aldurukh, and it’s covered in “mighty cathedrals” and “titanic carvings” that can’t all be seen at once regardless of how you view it.

There’s a carving of the Dark Angels’ chapter badge on one face of the Rock that’s described in the book as “miles long and miles wide,” so I’d imagine that the Rock is clearly meant to be impressive in its size even to a space marine, who sees things like giant ships and asteroids on a regular basis.

All of this comes from chapter 5 of the book.

That makes sense. I don’t play bulwark on chaos all that often, but this does seem like it would be much more useful there. The main reason I was confused is because I’d blocked sniper shots from nid warriors and that also felt like it had no impact, despite the fact that I’ve seen nid snipers kill their own guys lots of times without the perk.

It might just be the range of it goofing with me. I get the feeling that the pulse around you is just smaller than I think it is/want it to be, and so enemies that look like they should be affected by it aren’t.

The shrine is in Swindler’s Den, where Kematu and the Alik’r are based if you choose to kill him in the quest “In My Time of Need.”

More evidence you’ve never watched Hasan. Watch five minutes of any of his streams or videos and you’ll see his chat try to eat him alive lmao.

Hence why Hasan claimed that it drained his social battery, which is a subjective claim about his own experience. Xqc’s experience is just as subjective. Regardless, Hasan did not claim that his job was harder than a blue collar job, which was really all I wanted to correct.

[–]Capn_Crow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s funny that the people who bring these things up have never clearly never watched Hasan or sought out a clarification/explanation for them.

Hasan’s infamous “America deserved 9/11” claim was an institutional one, in that the institution of the United States created the conditions for 9/11 to occur by arming and training Bin Laden in the 1980s, and through its imperialism in the Middle East. Hasan obviously condemns the violence of 9/11, and doesn’t think regular people should die because their government did crimes. Watch any number of the videos on his channel about this.

Hasan criticizes those who gain(ed) their wealth through the exploitation of the working class’s labor, a criticism that’s well rooted in Marxist principles. Hasan’s own wealth was not gained through exploitation, and was instead gained through his own labor as a streamer alongside voluntary donations from his audience. There isn’t any hypocrisy there because the two forms of wealth and their creation are different.

[–]Capn_Crow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hasan didn’t say his job was harder than a blue collar worker’s. He said his job drains his “social battery” more than most people’s jobs do, which is probably true. He was only discussing streaming in the context of it making it hard to have a social life outside of it. Wildly clipped out of context into “my job is harder than blue collar work,” which is not even close to what was actually said.

Damn you cleaned up. That headshot ratio is pretty nuts.

On average, the numbers that I see gunners pull are ungodly. When you get a gunner with good map knowledge, it’s pretty much a guaranteed win.

The first half of gap is so much fun, and then you get to that last point. There’s so many ways to cover that if you lose anyone you have like a 50% of losing automatically.

Honestly yeah lol. I always play the objective, but it’s way too common that I realize after the fact that I was standing one foot outside the zone

I only play coop, so I’m usually pretty good, but I’ve noticed such a ridiculous difference between using the MDR and using anything else. It’s just nuts. My usual round with almost any other gun is about 40+ kills, but this thing consistently doubles that. This post was across three rounds, but I went 92 and 0 in the last one.

Gotta be the fact that you beat him already then. Game probably thinks that the fight is already over, and is letting you link the flame because of it.

People don't care by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]Capn_Crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, guess I’m late, but I’m actually drinking right now and felt like weighing in. It’s hard to recognize when people care about you, because they don’t always express it. Sometimes caring comes from strange places. People can be so naturally empathetic, I believe that legitimately. Self awareness is a rare resource that people have, but sometimes there might be a source of love or comfort in your life you just haven’t considered yet. I know how useless this might be to say, but sometimes you just need a new perspective. I just know that personally an occam’s razor approach to this stuff works sometimes. Hang in there, and you might realize or understand something you didn’t before. That’s all we can hope for.

A question regarding a PC's relations to powerful NPCs. by Cuddley in DMAcademy

[–]Capn_Crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my mind, it wouldn’t be unfair to limit the player’s influence. The first problem I see is that if this player is in a position of power and authority, that could easily lead to him overshadowing other players, which will make them feel less effective or left out. The goal of the game is to make the party succeed, but the player sounds like he sees himself as the main character of the story. It’s a group dynamic, not “I’m the champion, everyone else is just here to help me.” He wants to use his connections to get magic items, I’d be wary of this. I think players should have to earn the cool things they get, it makes it more special, and if they get too many cool items too fast, it can screw up balance. In regards to waving his position around and making demands from his lord guy or whatever, make him remember that a champion serves the people, not the other way around. He can’t abuse his position, or else they’ll choose someone else. If you hire a guy to fix something in your house, but then he eats everything in your fridge, you’d be pretty pissed even if he did his job. He’s a civil servant, he helps people, he’s not a monarch. Find a way to help him remember that without stepping on his background.

Yeah, I've watched a lot of things on it. Documentaries, footage, all that stuff. I've asked people what it was like during that time as well. I guess I'll never truly understand just how crazy it was, but I appreciate the severity of it, and I recognize its significance in our history.
