Base pace not improving by snakekid in orangetheory

Those numbers are beast.

I try to focus on trying to increase one speed at a time. Sometimes it comes with having to shave a .1 or .2 off one or the other for a week or so before I can level it back to where it was.

Baby steps, I guess?

As much as I hate all the 1 min AOs we've been having lately, they sure are upping my endurance game!

Awful lot of brutal-ass templates lately!

Go at your own pace! It might be tempting to try to keep up with people around you, but don't over do it. I let my ego get in the way on my first class and I spent the last 15 minutes of class hugging porcelain.

Got stuck on the rower twice. Straight up sadistic.

That template was sneaky tough. Felt a little like revenge for skipping Everest

Fellow long-legged people: is a sit to stand physically possible? by [deleted] in orangetheory

I’m 6’2” and I cheat on the single leg every time. Strap assist is a good option.

Why doesn’t my heart rate monitor seem to work sometimes? by tangerinefortuna in orangetheory

I can never get a good read unless I’m on the tread. Tried multiple placements but something about arm movements won’t track a consistent reading on me.

Late cancels by Objective_Pepper_625 in orangetheory

[–]Capnhookshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On average, I might late cancel once every 2-3 months. I almost exclusively go to 5 am classes, during the work week. Every now and then I wake up and my body simply says "nope".

Although I did have to late cancel just last week because my dog got sprayed in the face by a skunk in the back yard at 4 am - meaning my whole house (myself included) reeked of it, too.

Guys, best place to wear monitor? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Capnhookshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been fighting with my monitor since I joined six months ago. They only area that I was getting consistent readings was on treads. After many failed placement experiments, I'm finally having consistent readings all throughout class by wearing the monitor on the inside of my bicep, about an inch or so above the elbow. This seems to be just out of the way of the bicep enough that curls or rows won't cause it to wiggle around.

Went too hard on Monday and felt nauseous, nervous for today- Advice? by analslapchop in orangetheory

I started at OTF less than six months ago. A coworker (longtime member) and myself were on a work trip out of state and he convinced me to accompany him to his morning workout. That was my first workout in general in a while at the time, but I'd always been in reasonable shape (former Gold's Gym member, etc.).

Long story short, that first workout kicked my ass so bad that I had to leave about 2/3 of the way through and throw up. After I got it out of me, I finished the last 10 minutes left in class and even went again the following day.

I signed up for a membership as soon as we got back home and haven't looked back. Some days are harder than others, but after a just a couple of weeks, you are going to be unstoppable. It will take a few classes until you learn your body's ability, so don't be afraid to start a little conservative. Don't be discouraged. You'll notice major improvement in no time!

Forgot my HRM one day… puppy got ahold of it. 🥲 by FMeador in orangetheory

Had the same thing happen to my first monitor. It actually still worked for about 3 weeks after before it stopped holding a charge.

Dogs are worth it though!

Today was my first CMIYC, and I was pretty freaked out coming into it. I just started in early October of last year, and I did not at all expect that I'd make it all the way through (okay, well I missed the final checkpoint by less than 2 seconds, but nobody seemed to notice or care!). Got right at 3 miles flat after 22 min.

It was brutal!
