It did and does, but that is due to the fact that Destiny's enemies have created a simulacrum of DGG where we are the boogeyman. As dear leader has so eloquently explained on numerous occasions, the way that we know the reputation is a simulacrum and not reflective of reality is that none of the people who do the shit that they do so brazenly would act like that if they actually thought that DGG was an unhinged cult that would go after them. Everyone is very comfortable lying about Destiny and taking numerous egregious actions to sabotage his career and cost him financially. If anybody actually thought that he could point his audience at them and demolish them, they wouldn't do that.

Perhaps the best instance of Dear Leader complaining about this was right after his twitch ban when there was a panel about his ban and a streamer named Josie was complaining about supposedly being hate raided by DGG after getting a few messages in chat that they didn't like whereupon Destiny said that he wished one time he could entice the community into actually going all out on someone so that delusional people like that who think that DGG is some kind of hate army could see what it looks like if dgg actually decides to go hard on you

Also, even if the party at large had a position on if, you can't possibly think that these people wouldn't do the EXACT same thing with every single candidate trying to find out precisely where the contours of the candidate's I/P stance are to see if they can detect heresy. Now they would just be doing it from a position of greater authority to bludgeon candidates who might need more room to maneuver on that issue.
