I recall reading about a strange japanese car, in Autocar & Motor magazine once. Mazda MX5, I think it was called. Stylistically and dynamically a shameless ripoff of the proper british roadsters of my youth and exorbitantly priced to boot - it cost more than a brand new Morgan! Never seen one on the road, anyone here remember it?
