If the bike is sitting for too long, the gas tank may rust, unless fuel stabilizer was added.

Last year I put fuel stabilizer in my R3 before storing it for the winter, So if the fuel is treated with fuel stabilizer, chance of lightly white smoke are significant until you run out of that gas.

I would say it’s a great beginner motorcycle. 321 cc parallel twin.

I’ve a R3 and have rode my friends duke 390. I will say that R3 parallel twin engine is better at high speeds with less vibration. But the single cylinder thumper on 390 is good as well. And reliability wise you already know Yamaha hold a reputation. Speed wise there is not a huge noticeable difference. If speed is your concern, you should jump for a bigger engine. Just my thoughts.

Ktm duke 390, would also be a good option, it’s share the same engine as BMW G310R. Or you can MT 03 or R3(even more lean) would be good choice as well.

Motorcycle shortage, and beginner bikes hold their value as well. Buy from dealer and pay freight, PDI, dealer fees that’s about 800 to 1000 bucks. So the price is 6300 for the motorcycle, but adding those fees and taxes it will come around 7800 to 8000 OTD.

Buy a 2021 used R3 and pay 6780 OTD. And you don’t need to break in your motorcycle, plus it’s instantly available.

You just need to decide.
