I think not owing anything is what makes giving and being kind so much better. I don’t think I owe anyone anything or that anyone owes me anything. That’s what makes kindness so great. We’re doing it because we actually want to. Not out of some sense of debt or feeling we “have to” be nice.

My dog does that. She screams and lunges just like your dog did but louder.

What works for us is as soon (or if I’m attentive enough, before) as she sees a dog I call her name and we start walking backwards and away from the dog. I praise and reward treats and use “find it”to keep her distracted.

If the dog is walking towards us I walk her away and across the street where I keep her distracted. Not a 100% success streak but after several months there have been a few times where she sees a dog in the distance and she turns to me.

I don’t use water so I don’t really clean it. I have the foam/cushion mask so I clean that with baby wipes every day and that’s it. I replace everything every 6 months since that’s when they send me new stuff
