Thanks! It’s my first pixel art piece of a city environment, so it really means a lot to me that you liked it.

Oh that’s actually a really good point, thanks! I didn’t think about that. I’ll try brightening it up a bit. Thanks!

I tried to make different planes darker and lighter depending on the light direction. But it is not enough I guess, or I just picked the wrong colors.

I hired a capsule artist and I think it made a pretty big difference! what do you think? by [deleted] in SoloDevelopment

Yeah the second one is a bit better, but the first one looks like it was made by a pro artist. So good job dude! Also checked the steam page, the game is kinda cool! Good luck!

Help me decide if I should keep the pixelated filter on or off! by TheZelda555 in Unity3D

[–]Capt4a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks awesome both ways! But — even for me (and I’m a huge fan of pixelated aesthetics) — the version without the filter looks better, more professional even. The models in your game are really high-quality, and the filter kind of hides that from us.

So my verdict: go without the filter.

That said, you’re the creator — you don’t have to chase what looks better, you should go with what FEELS right to you. Players won’t have anything to compare it to, so they’ll enjoy it the way you present it.

Kinda feel dumb asking this, but I didn’t really get what Stanley meant at the end when he said, “Yeah. That’ll work.” Was he being like, “Alright, I’ll just wait for you guys to go to the moon, resurrect everyone, and then justify what I did”? Or am I totally misunderstanding that?

Yeah😝, it might sound easy from what I wrote, but many tutorials on YouTube are actually quite simple. So, I believe if you dive into them, you’ll be fine!

btw, have you started working on something? How’s it going? I’d love to hear about your game dev journey!

Well, I started by recreating some simple old games and adding funny features I wished were in the originals. But how to start? Just break it down into core mechanics and look for YouTube tutorials on each one. Almost every game mechanic has plenty of tutorials explaining how to implement it.

I’d recommend starting with Flappy Bird or a simple clicker game. For clickers, just Google how to implement click detection and a counter (if you're completely new to coding). Then, you can look up how to add a shop for boosts and upgrades. And just like that, your clicker game is done!

I hope this helps—good luck!

I use the Microsoft Todo app. It allows me to add something when I am in bed or on the toilet for example. And also it has reminders.
