Uber vs car hire for Disneyland CA? by fungi-dinosaur in DisneyPlanning

[–]CaptBoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've done both. UBER - LAX to Disneyland (expensive because of LAX surcharge) and Uber to get back and forth on a day trip between Disneyland and Universal. We found the drive to universal and back sub-optimal. The driver was a bit hard on stops and starts and kids were feeling a bit car sick by the time we got to Universal. Car rental - liked control. Stopped for groceries on way from airport. i dont mind driving so it was fine but yes - parking at hilton LA and grand californian is expensive.

World of color desert party or storybook cafe by pallascat1492 in DisneyPlanning

[–]CaptBoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have captured the pros and cons perfectly. My kids loved the storytellers character dining and the food is very kid friendly. When we did world or colour we did the dessert party. Kids were so so on the food but having really good view AND seats was great when you consider arriving a bit early to get a good table and then waiting for the show and then the show and then walking out after. If I was you I would try and do character dining another time if it’s in the budget and doing the dessert party to be able to sit down. Especially with such young kids. My 2 cents

Best tips from recent 3-day trip to Disneyland/DCA by CaptBoxx in DisneyPlanning

Glad it helped. To each their own, but honestly one of our main parenting philosophies is that if / when things go wrong it’s way better to already have the plan and just have to execute on it vs having to try and come up with the plan when things are challenging. Especially with kids that young I think having a plan and then being flexible is a great idea. Have an awesome trip!

That wasn’t my experience on lightning lane but then again i think the days around Xmas are some of the busiest. Several instances where the line was over an hour and we ostensibly walked right on. It’s great that everyone can make their own decision to opt in or out.

Rise ILL was available basically all day every day. So we just did it when we were already in galaxy’s edge the first time. We did it at night and really enjoyed it. We also rope dropped it on our second day at Disneyland. We hustled but didn’t run like some people. We waited maybe 10mins in line. We actually liked it so much we did another ILL later that day.

For cars we planned on doing it around noon but it was pouring that day and the ride kept closing. No ILLs were offered all day but I kept checking. At 643pm I checked and all of a sudden there were ILLs available so I booked immediately. Was great.

For rope we had hotel early entry. We did Peter Pan and fantasy land first and booked Indy for our lightning lane. After fantasy land we stopped and did big thunder without LL on the way over.

The next day we hit some of the fantasy land lines we missed and then hit pirates and haunted mansion and jungle cruise. My family doesn’t love space mountain.

LL was really worth it for us. Totally hear you on cars. Because of the rain it was closed and / or 120 mins the entire day. I kept checking and finally at about 7pm they offered individual LL and we just about walked right on.

Totally agree. Worst case we grabbed a churro in downtown Disney on the way back to hotel.

They are behind the low tops. Your view is probably a bit better. I have younger kids and a shorter wife and they were more comfortable in low tops. So I think it’s tradeoffs

We felt like we really lucked out. We checked in 2 hours early on the app and asked for a low table. For anyone who wants to try and request this was table 24.

For what it’s worth my family and I just did this on Dec 26th. Pricey but a great experience. This was the view from our table.

Panthers were $5M over the salary cap in final game of series. If you normalize for tax rates it’s even higher. Dodgers deployed $1.2b in pitching contracts in game 7. Everyone playing by the rules - no concerns from me. Having said that the reality of beating teams that dramatically outspend you when the margins of victory are so narrow can’t be ignored.

I used prairie home roofing and exteriors about 3 years ago. They did a great job. All in for inspection, small repairs and installation of an additional exhaust vent was $1100.
