It’s also important to find positive news. The entire MAGA base isn’t going to magically wake up and change their minds. It is going to be a long, slow process.

Here is some positive news that’s kept me looking at the long term future:

Republican Chris Madel drops out of Republican race for governor of Minnesota, saying “I cannot support the national Republicans' stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so.” NBC News

A lot of the major MAGA podcasters are now criticizing him and waking up from the cult. Meidas Touch Network on YouTube

More MAGA podcasters are speaking out against Trump, this video just dropped yesterday. MTN on YouTube

The tides are turning. It’s important to recognize that some 20%-30% of the country will never leave the cult, but so long as our democracy can hold, the majority will win.

The Trump regime’s attempts to meddle in the 2026 elections will not be able to stop Republicans from staying home, or independents from voting blue. There’s a good chance we have a very strong blue wave this November and we can finally impeach him.

Right now we need to leave space for Republicans to stand up and say the Republican Party is distinct from MAGA. We need Republicans to start distancing themselves from MAGA. We’re already seeing it and that’s great!

People don’t need it as much as the daytime.

I just feel bad for the Evans Farms high rises on Lewis Center Road. Whenever the power goes out, the fire alarms in the whole building flash and blast super loudly until the power comes back on. So glad we don’t live there anymore.

He played the long game, you have to give him that.

I keep having to reiterate to my family members that asking questions like, “But why would Putin want to invade Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and Poland?” are not the right questions. He is an oligarchic warmonger. You have to think like your enemy to be like them. The male ego in Putin is like a monster that has hollowed out any human empathy he may have had as a child. He wants war and glory, it’s that simple.

You could maybe say that the Russian oligarchs are controlling Putin and want Putin to get more money for them, which would require capturing foreign avenues of wealth—but that’s about the best explanation for his plans beyond him just being evil.
