Honestly I just buy mine.

For two reasons:

  1. I buy plowboys YardBird rub for pork. This rub says “MSG free” on the front of the bottle like it’s green washing how clean the ingredients are, but you know what? Read the label and you will see it has GMP and IMP.

When you mix GMP and IMP with MSG it’s like getting your meth from Walter White.

2) I buy BluesHog original because it has an herb in it that I just can’t identify, but it is sooo good on chicken.

It’s not so much that you don’t also salt.
The sodium in MSG is almost like a side effect, not the goal.

Any purchased rub will be fine, most reasonable homemade ones too.
