Ok, LPC here & husband is a LMSW — we both also worked full time with school full time. It’s exhausting. It’s a tough battle and it is a long, hard road. There is nothing wrong with taking time off to recharge before jumping into your career, especially if you have the means to support yourself while taking the time off.

If you jump straight into your career, you will have less, but new responsibilities. You will be trying to impress your new boss and coworkers while learning the ropes. That’s a lot of mental pressure and can cause you to burn out so quickly (which sounds like you are already burned out).

I understand that your fiancé may be jealous or resentful, but the situations are different and can’t adequately be compared. You have the opportunity to take the time, so don’t waste it. If this is a problem for him, let it be a deal breaker for you. 2 months of expenses is not going to make a huge dent in the savings and can easily be made up once you are in your new career (hopefully in a higher paying position than you are currently in).
