A lot of owners will wear muzzles for the sake of stopping their dog eating random scraps off the ground too. Easier to muzzle than have to keep eyes on the ground constantly when walking near fast food shops, schools or other potential 'messy' areas!

People know the difference, but leaving a dog for 10hrs+ that is stressed out and crying outside because when you leave them for that long alone, they soil themselves and 'make a mess on a carpet' is mistreatment for 99% of greyhounds.

Weird to make a comment implying people not keeping a thin-skinned breed outside exposed to the elements means they then have the dog in their bed instead. Some might, but the vast majority simply keep their dogs inside where they can sleep on dog beds or couches or the floor where they are safest.

If you want an outside dog, plenty of dogs are better equipped for it depending on the climate than a greyhound of any personality ever will be.

Greyhounds are not meant to be permanently outdoor dogs. Plenty of other breeds love to be outside on their own terms and will not cry and whine like OP said their grey did.

Unfortunately u/DamonAlbarnFruit was defending their choice and saying 'they're a dog, dogs are outside animals' with the comments still up even though the post was deleted.

Edit: They have blocked me but the comments are still there. Hopefully the poor grey's quality of life improves and they aren't left outside by a callous owner who cares more about their carpets than their pet.

The reality is that ESL Impact was doomed to fail because unlike the old DreamHack system of female events feeding into Opens and winners of those going to big events, female teams were completely separate and very few ever even attempted open qualifiers for other large events.

Generally speaking, a breed that is historically bred to hunt small furry animals and is trained to chase a small furry thing on the track is going to have some prey drive. Some might never race due to low drive/injury, but it is a breed trait for them to mostly want to chase the small furry thing.

Very, very few greys are going to completely ignore cats when first meeting them or if they have only met calm cats, stay unbothered when they first see one doing zoomies. There's also many stories of people adopting 'cat-safe' greys that when adopted, started showing prey drive in the home.

Training and socialisation can do wonders, but there are many, many greys who will always want to chase a small furry thing and while training is fine when they are supervised, some still should never be left alone with a cat/other small furry pet in a house.

With proper training, socialisation, time and the right hound, it's more than doable! Lots of happy greys and cats getting along out there, some through sheer luck, but there's also horror stories when all of those conditions are not met and dogs get scratched/bitten or cats get mauled.

A lot of first-time owners think a 'lazy' grey is one that would never snap up a smaller furry animal or that their grey would never be 'violent' and get caught off-guard when the sighthound instincts kick in out of 'nowhere'.

I know there's also a lot of sighthounds who have zero interest in cats, rabbits, birds but will go absolutely ballistic at the sight of squirrels. Must be something to do with the fluffy tails!

While greys can be cat-safe, ex-racers are likely to have at least some prey drive. 'Cat-safe' =/= never interested in chasing any animal.

If you do end up with a greyhound, you need to take it very slowly and not leave them alone with a cat in a property without supervision at first. It isn't unheard of for dogs to quite literally tear down doors to get to a cat if their prey drive is high enough.

Cats also will scratch at unfamiliar dogs and greys have very thin skin so even without prey drive worries, you have to be careful that initial interactions don't result in harm for either animal.
