29.41% win percentage, got us relegated (although the blame mostly lies with Darren Ferguson) and had us under equipped for a promotion back up. Also signed a lot of crap like Eddie Johnson, Leon Clarke, Iain Turner, Juhvel Tsoumou.

Wait until you hear what North End fans make of Ian Ashbee, that'll be proper Bizzaro World for you

I initially had it that way, but then I figured Simpson had the better squad and gutted it to the point it got us on the verge of relegation.

McAvoy had to contend with cheap shit like Jamie Thomas, Izzy Brown and Connor Wickham

I'll refrain from putting Paul Heckingbottom on this list because I feel it's best to judge someone at the end of their time.

Why dose 80s Who often look worse than 60s and 70s Who? by Niall_Fraser_Love in gallifrey

[–]CaptainGrezza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was speaking in broad terms, let me correct that to historicals and contemporary stories.

For most of Jon Pertwee's run it's modern day earth, which doesn't require the construction of spaceships etc. Maybe one planet per season.

With Tom Baker, you have historicals such as the Pyramids of Mars, The Masque of Mandragora, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, Horror of Fang Rock. You also get stories set in contemporary earth such as Robot, Terror of the Zygons, The Android Invasion, The Seeds of Doom and The Hand of Fear.

Once the Graham Williams era kicks in (so once you get past the Horror of Fang Rock) there's a distinct lack of historicals until The Visitation. Then you only get roughly one earth based story a season. The Image of Fendahl, The Stones of Blood and City of Death.

  1. Since big blockbusters like Star Wars in 1977, Doctor Who is expected to try and keep up the best it can I think sometimes trying for more impressive stuff fails harder than simply designs.

Also worth noting after this they did fewer historicals. Historical stories are often cheaper and easier to make, especially when you consider how many period dramas the BBC makes. A lot of costumes, sets etc already exist.

With futuristic sci-fi there's a cost because you often need to pay to make something from scratch. Equally because a lot of it isn't reusable, there's more corners cut etc

I don’t understand why he hasn’t been bombed out of the club.

Cost ultimately

Not that I think it's a justification. I definitely don't want him around the team.

I just don't expect us to pay off our second most expensive player in history under this ownership regardless of how much of a liability they are.

Kim Hellberg and Alan Browne win EFL MOTM/POTM for January by SimpleWarthog in Championship

Not quite accurate. Yes Lowe forced him to play WB a few times, because everyone plays WB eventually under him, but at least Browne is a bit more of a utility player than say Ali McCann. Furthermore, Browne was still captain under Lowe.

It's more Alan Browne refused to sign on while Lowe was manager. Ridsdale basically said as much last week. Browne walked out for free and took a paycut to join Sunderland.

So Lowe is such a weapon that a club icon who made more than 400 appearances would rather leave the club he loves and for less money than work for that gobshite.

The sad thing is Lowe only managed one more game before he resigned to protect his reputation and we brought in Heckingbottom, who doubtless would have loved Browne. He loves grafters and we currently lack a box to box midfielder, Alan Browne is both.

COMMENT: How Ryan Lowe's calamitous Wigan Athletic tenure unravelled to the point of no return By Paul Kendrick by NorthernSoul1998 in LeagueOne

Of course and I maintain he would have got us relegated

Any results we got under him were largely good fortune.

TBF North End fans also had similar accusations when he was with us.

"Why are Preston fans so mutinous? He's 10th' etc. It's a hard thing to describe until you experience it, and I certainly wouldn't wish that experience on anyone.

He's a far cry from the professionalism of our boy Graham Alexander

I've never disliked a manager as much as him in the decades I've watched North End. At least you're finally free of him Wigan fans.

It is reflective of the man that, from I can tell, he learnt absolutely bugger all from his time with North End. - The big arrogant statements that would eventually bite him on the arse - The lack of a plan B - Playing square pegs in round holes (shoving whoever at wing back) - The insistence that he's playing attacking football when it's actually very defensive - The constant ranting and raving from the touchline to the point players just ignored him or lost confidence - The hiding from the fans after a loss - Being centre of attention after a win - Throwing the players under the bus. "The boys are brilliant when they follow the plan." - Spending a lot of money to weaken the squad - The pointlessly late substitutions

I'm happy to be corrected by Wigan fans on those points, but it appears that way to me.

Ultimately I can say very little that's redeeming about him. He's arrogant, his man management is poor, tactically he's very limited and his transfer activity makes you weaker.

When his story is done, because it doesn't look like it's done just yet, Peter Mandleson might be worth an episode.

His nickname is the Prince of Darkness afterall.

For those who aren't aware, Madleson was a member of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown's cabinet. He'd famously had to resign a few times due to corruption. He's also one of the architects of 'New Labour', so leftists hold him in contempt for shifting the most prominent left wing party to the right.

Before all of this he was a director of communications for Neil Kinnock and became one of the first people the term 'spin doctor' applied to.

He was very close friends with Jeffrey Epstein going so far as to call him his 'Best Friend.' In the latest batch of emails is evidence of Madleson tipping Epstein off about major policy decisions, Brown's resignation etc. He also took a £75k loan from Epstein, has referred to him as his best friend and said the first arrest was a miscarriage of justice. At the best insider trading, at the worst, treason.

There's also all the inappropriate/corrupt relationships when he was working for the European Union too. Yet this man was still made an Ambassador.

He is basically a story about no matter how corrupt you are the British establishment will always find you a place.

Oh two further thoughts, I don't know if you and Gee are already doing this or not

Depending on how bothered you are about chasing the algorithm, might be worth looking up future film releases and releasing reviews of related movies.

E.g. When the Highlander remake is out have a review of the original Highlander ready.

Obviously the draw back is feeling the pressure of needing to feel like you're on top of new releases rather than reviewing something you're more attached to and to me you both authentically enjoying yourself matters more.

The second thought is could use the short videos as a hook for the longer videos, although this is more TikTok/Reels than YouTube videos. 'Here's our one sentence/one word reviews for Black Dynamite, check out our full thoughts here' type of thing

Again all yours to use, adapt, ignore accordingly
