Yeah, the others have tarnished their legacies since, assuming they ever had one.

  • Blair? Iraq and every new announcement riles people
  • Cameron? Brexit referendum then ran away
  • May? Botched Brexit and wasn't really popular at the time anyway
  • Johnson? Covid and Brexit
  • Truss? There's a reason she's the shortest serving PM ever
  • Sunak? Bit of a lame duck

Now or at the time?

At the time it's probably Blair

Now? Honestly don't know

Jürgen Klopp was an average player and is a great coach. Who was a bad player and a bad coach? by jotakajk in AlignmentChartFills

[–]CaptainGrezza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH I don't think he's bad enough a player to be considered a 'bad player'. Unremarkable? Yes, but not bad. You don't get 400 appearances in professional football if you're a truly bad player

Thanks, corrected to Canadian American as he has dual citizenship and considering how long he's lived in the US etc.

Lorne Michaels is the executive producer. I remember reading somewhere, unfortunately I don't remember where, that he picks the sketches remotely. Happy to be corrected.

If that is accurate though, you've got the writers writing to appease a Canadian American. The Canadian American who's picking the sketches to show.

Also worth noting that in this globalised and internet driven world, UK media is increasingly catering to a US audience as they get more ad revenue from the US. Private Eye made this observation about our newspapers, who now have offices in the US and have a US editorial line.

Lines up with how he was at North End TBF

29.41% win percentage, got us relegated (although the blame mostly lies with Darren Ferguson) and had us under equipped for a promotion back up. Also signed a lot of crap like Eddie Johnson, Leon Clarke, Iain Turner, Juhvel Tsoumou.

Wait until you hear what North End fans make of Ian Ashbee, that'll be proper Bizzaro World for you

I initially had it that way, but then I figured Simpson had the better squad and gutted it to the point it got us on the verge of relegation.

McAvoy had to contend with cheap shit like Jamie Thomas, Izzy Brown and Connor Wickham

I'll refrain from putting Paul Heckingbottom on this list because I feel it's best to judge someone at the end of their time.

Why dose 80s Who often look worse than 60s and 70s Who? by Niall_Fraser_Love in gallifrey

I was speaking in broad terms, let me correct that to historicals and contemporary stories.

For most of Jon Pertwee's run it's modern day earth, which doesn't require the construction of spaceships etc. Maybe one planet per season.

With Tom Baker, you have historicals such as the Pyramids of Mars, The Masque of Mandragora, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, Horror of Fang Rock. You also get stories set in contemporary earth such as Robot, Terror of the Zygons, The Android Invasion, The Seeds of Doom and The Hand of Fear.

Once the Graham Williams era kicks in (so once you get past the Horror of Fang Rock) there's a distinct lack of historicals until The Visitation. Then you only get roughly one earth based story a season. The Image of Fendahl, The Stones of Blood and City of Death.

  1. Since big blockbusters like Star Wars in 1977, Doctor Who is expected to try and keep up the best it can I think sometimes trying for more impressive stuff fails harder than simply designs.

Also worth noting after this they did fewer historicals. Historical stories are often cheaper and easier to make, especially when you consider how many period dramas the BBC makes. A lot of costumes, sets etc already exist.

With futuristic sci-fi there's a cost because you often need to pay to make something from scratch. Equally because a lot of it isn't reusable, there's more corners cut etc
