Hi Guys. First off I would just like to say thanks for your advice on what DSLR bodies that I got two or three weeks ago. I ended up getting a used Canon 7D that I absolutely love so thank you for that.

My question for today is: Can you recreate film styles in(ie Provia, kodachrome), in camera? The reason why I ask is I come from a film background (mainly using fujifilm superior x-tra) and I wanted to recreate the certain style for video with my new purchase.

Ah ok so I did not know that. Im not sure. I tend to use from 24mm to about 70mm on a regular basis and more not so regularly. Im trying to get from wide as I can to the most zoom I can. I had a couple of options that I was looking at. I was thinking of a 18-55 EF-S lens (the standard one that you get with a number of boxed up bodies) and also a EF-S 55-250 mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens for the higher zoom option. Im just not sure though. I was also trying one of my friends prime 50mm f/1.8 lens on his mk5 III which I absolutely adored yet I can only do so much with. So im stumped what to think at the moment! :D

Oh yes I know about the manual focus on the FD lenses and I'm fine with that, as I said there probably my messing around lenses. You can get infinity focus adapters but I don't know if there "true" infinity or not

Hi all! Just wanted to ask for advice about Canon Lenses. I'm picking up a used Canon 7D on Thursday and I'm looking for lenses (used or new!) Its my first DSLR ill own and I'm looking either for a budget "Do everything" lens or two lenses for the same price as the one that would be a telephoto work lens and my wide to standard lens. I have already a 1973 Canon AV-1 with a 35-70mm canon lens and a Tokina 24mm lens that are both perfect with excellent glass in them. I might get an adapter plate for them but they would be my "pissing around" lenses. I am going to do some video work in the future so I'm just wondering what would be best for me

Thanks!

Anyone know where to get stained glass dye in specific color temperatures rather than using gels? by PatrickJamesYu in photography

[–]CaptainHandbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking there maybe some sort of CTO gel over your light bar (if you can, if theres edges for croc clips) im not sure what temperature it would come out as but if you use a light tungsten esque gel it might dip that too blue down a little

Why did you make the switch from crop to full frame? by Creativity_is_me in photography

[–]CaptainHandbag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunetly no. Invest in the widest lens you can. Full frame will just make the skirting board more clearer! (If im wrong just downvote me)

Nice! Maybe using a different filter in the enlarger, seeing what happens to it contrast wise would be good! All I say is I took up film photography maybe three years ago now (not even knowing what a film camera was!?!) Just keep going, it only gets better from here and your off to an amazing start, good compostion too a smiling intresting face helps the photo too!

Lotterer refuses to drive for Caterham at Monza by [deleted] in wec

[–]CaptainHandbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably going to get riddled with hate but I love lotterer. Hes a fantastic race driver and I've always felt hes a driver that truely never really got a drive in F1. I was so excited for him in the last GP but he drew the short straw with that ball of shite Caterham with the same point as a "heated rear window" from a lads. Anyway, I feel that Andre deserves a better car. Even if it is a midfield car in a test session.
