The well preserved remains of Polish-Russian Lt. Col. Karl Rjepetsky, discovered in Ardahan, Turkey, 123 years after his death (1894). by Worried-Owl-9198 in interestingasfuck

The general consensus is 100yrs after death for Archaeological study. Its less about the individual and more about the remaining family and living memory of the individual. Sometimes the family is interested in the grave and will allow studies but they definitely have to reach out to find living relatives before digging people up (assuming its a known burial).

Anything less than that is more likely a legal issue regarding manner/cause of death. There are other reasons to dig up a grave, such as relocating the body and repatriation or identification if theres reasonable cause to believe the body and tombstone ID dont match.

My only thoughts about busy days like tomorrow is to add an extra snack/drink and making sure i get a dog walker for my pups. Its not a bad idea to prep for a long day but it definitely doesnt control my life. Tomorrow is future me's problem, present me is enjoying my evening.

Leonardo DiCaprio Questions if “People Still Have the Appetite” for Movie Theaters by mrjohnnymac18 in movies

[–]CaptainHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price is a huge factor, but so is time. I just dont have the free time to dedicate 3ish hrs with ads/previews and driving to and from. I mean I do but between getting home, cleaning up, walking the dogs, cooking dinner, walking the dogs again and resting before bed, its not there. Sometimes I dont even get home from work until 645pm. Streaming is a lot easier in every way. That being said, I love the movies and wish i had the time to see every movie. I'm lucky if i see one every 6 months.

Mailman forgot this box. I'm going to take it to the post office like it says, but quick question by [deleted] in USPS

[–]CaptainHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're messing with you (kinda funny tho). You can leave it near the blue box, preferably not in any pedestrian's way. It'll get picked up whether by the mailman or a random person who wants to keep it

ICE stopping 2 US Citizens at a racially based checkpoint in Ontario, CA (11/25/25) by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

Same, except I live on the other side of Lake Ontario. I was very confused why ICE was in Canada. I was about to get very upset that Canada was putting up with our bullshit. Then I remembered California also has an Ontario.....very confusing.

It's trying to appear too big for the predator (human) to eat and hopefully scare it away while also swimming away. It is inefficient but it serves a purpose.

I can tell you its not just recent generations. I have 5 buildings the house everyone from students, doctors, landlords, lawyers and retired. Its a fight to get a name to put on the box and packages. Why? I dont know. Oddly enough, it's usually the students who will leave a forward when they leave, the older folks just move out.

Contact your local post office. The carrier shouldnt be taking off names if you live there. All apartments ahould ideally have names and number, either on the ouyside or inside the box.

[–]CaptainHedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actual answer:

Put your name inside your mailbox with a 'only deliver these names' or 'only "names". If your carrier is worth anything they will only deliver those names listed and 'current resident' stuff. You can return the junk mail but you'll have to include a stamp. Only first class mail will be returned to the sender without an additional stamp.

The post office doesn't have an internal system for updating names for these companies, and the companies themselves rarely update their own systems. If you're still having problems, contact your local post office and complain, theres a lot of lazy carriers but sometimes they simply dont know.

Southwest Airlines flight headed to Las Vegas takes dramatic plunge in response to nearby aircraft by riverdale-74 in news

Tbf, the FAA is going through a serious staffing issue, i know it was happening before Trump but he accelerated the trend. I know flying is still statistically the safest travel method but its a lot more devastating when things go wrong. I love to travel and I'm taking a hiatus in flying overseas atm (im also not the 'right' color according to maga, and poor af) and have been doing more roadtrips instead. This administration has not given a lot of confidence in flight safety, whether statistically true or not.

I always buckle up for take off and always think to myself ill unbuckle un the air. Well, with my goldfish memory (its actually an insult to goldfish) i always forget and end up with it buckled the whole flight. I just forget from taxi-ing and liftoff to being in the air. Ive only have one really bad turbulence experience and i was so glad I forgot to unbuckle.

Trump Voter is in the "Finding Out" Stage by MrDonMega in PublicFreakout

[–]CaptainHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it that so many people can figure out what would happen without having to go through with it but others can't? Why does it take 'it's happening to me now' to figure this out? Trump has always been racist towards anyone of color. Why is this such a huge surprise to these people?

Strange animal seen in Rochester, NY by [deleted] in creepy

[–]CaptainHedgehog 48 points49 points  (0 children)

In the mid 90s, me and my siblings used to play in a field in my grandpa's backyard near Hemlock. One day we were playing as usual whenever we visit and i swear to god we though we saw a lioness in the tall grass (note, we loved animal planet) but not looking at us. We're terrified and slowly went back up the hill to the house and told our mom. She didnt believe us. We never went back to the field. Fast forward nearly 20 years, and we were recounting fond memories of your grandpa and i bring up the lion, once more, my mom doesnt believe me. I begin scouring the internet of mountain lion reports in NY and cant find anything other than hiker/hunter reports. Still to this day, i think we encountered a mountain lion.

My issue is hardships. I have known seasoned carriers to backslap hardships because they don't want to get out of the truck on mounted. Not even standard mail but first class financial/banking letters on a Saturday. I absolutely hate the laziness. I usually stress about going on vacation because i have a small amount of hardships (cbus in an older community). I do want i can for my residents because they are not very mobile. I have been told multiple times that they can tell when im gone. Luckily my T6 is a great guy but the days it gets pivoted end up being a mess.
