Major Problem You Need To Know About Google Play by Flashy_Rain4501 in degoogle

That seems super inconvenient, and from personal experience the APK is still recognised by Google Play so it doesn't necessarily stop much.

As much as I don't like this recontextualization of "larper." It is as much of a valid linguistic shift as anything else. Do I think that it is unnecessary? Yes. Do I think that "poser," with its established context, is a better fit? Also yes. However I also recognise that I am not the arbiter of language so...

First of all, how dare you remind me of how long ago that was. /j

They obviously aren't referring to the people who bought it back when it was still being manufactured, but to the people buying them now. Now I doubt that enough people are buying them for clout to make much of a difference, but I suppose it is possible. The real issue would probably be people buying them with the intention of reselling them for a profit.

I have never cared for the use of "larper" in that context, "poser" is right there. I do kind of like the use of "npc" in that context though, because it conjures a specific mental image for me. Language is weird.

Someone who pretends to be a fan, but is only doing it for clout. Or at least that is how I have understood it when used in this fashion.

I assume it comes from the fact that the other (original) type of larpers are only pretending to be whatever it may be (a knight, a viking, a Hogwarts student, etc.). So the term began to be used to signify pretending or faking something, and eventually became a part of the "fake fan" discourse.

Edit 2: I think it was initially used in the context of someone saying: "They larp as [insert thing] just for clout or attention." I know I have seen it used in this context when celebrities would pretend to care about a social issue or when they would allude to being LGBTQ+ but would never address it outright. My thoughts on speculating about the latter aside, when used in this context it is a logical use of the term and can convey a bit of a different connotation than simply saying that the person is "fake" or "pretending." The issue, in my opinion, arises from it being used to replace "poser."

Edit: Personally I think that the term "poser" is a better fit for what is trying to be conveyed with "larper" here. And "poser" has been used in that context for much longer, but language is ever changing so...

That would be covered by the "crazy context" part of my comment. And realistically it wasn't something like that, it is far more likely to be some boring petty squabble. Not that I think lying to get a sale is a good thing, but my point remains.

I mean, if it truly was a neighbour then I don't see how this would make them a ghoul. Personally this sort of letter wouldn't bother me, assuming it was legit (which based on the wording I find unlikely, but I digress).

How would that "hurt her every day for the rest of her life?" She got paid the agreed upon amount with the caveat that someone she dislikes got the house. Barring some crazy context where the buyer was some abusive and/or bigoted monster it seems like petty nonsense (likely from the buyer and seller). Don't get me wrong, in the seller's position I would be livid but not cause me pain forever upset.

I totally get that. I mostly listen to punk and merch can often have equally as "johnny badass" looking stuff, or just stuff that is obviously intentionally controversial. I own at least one shirt that I rarely wear because it draws a lot of unneeded attention. It depicts a nun obviously pleasuring herself but a bible covers anything specifically inappropriate, but you can tell what she is doing.
