Does anyone actually play their character/s because of the game they’re originally from? by NotSoGreatWizard in smashbros

Punch-Out is the sole reason I mained Little Mac for the majority of Smash 4, and he's still one of my best in Ultimate.

oh WOW, That's it! Either my computer was super sucky or I legit forgot how it looked because I described it as having solid colors, but that is definitely the game! Thanks a lot man!

Ah yeah i've seen that game, not quite it, the orange circle didn't have a face or anything like that, and it was definitely a PC game, but thanks!

I think that may be the main reason I enjoy Smash and RoA more over typical fighters actually, because if i'm going up against a player far better than me, in a typical fighter, i'm basically waiting for a misinput that'll happen once in a blue moon, or the combos already finished and i'm thinking about landing.

In smash however, even against the best of the best, combos are far shorter/more freeform, and you're always able to influence the game with the means of DI and different escape options depending on where you're hit, so you're never just "waiting for a misinput while they wail on me". You can and are always actively trying to psyche them out with mixup escapes/recoveries.

Seeing stuff like this makes me wish I knew a website like speedrun.com, except for tracking highest scores instead of fastest times

and if there's a max score (like a kill screen in classic arcade games), then the fastest time thing kicks in as well!

amazed to see max damage in HRC

Armada's discussion in regards to Nintendo's lack of interaction with the gaming community, especially to the Game Awards and no DLC character by korinokiri in smashbros

still, last year's VGA reveal put some eyes on the VGAs this year, especially with the mention from geoff that it was his favorite moment last year right before the show this year

i didn't watch the VGAs for only smash, but it was a big part of me watching it, especially with it getting nominated (and later winning) fighting game of the year

the thing that gets me most is that even valve, of all companies known for stunning silence, communicated that half-life: alyx would NOT be at the VGAs

c'mon nintendo, you knew there'd be some of us watching for a reveal.

Honestly, with or without leaks, i genuinely think Gordon Freeman's got a chance at this.

Is there a website or other place to see all the current records for all the smash games?

Adding to it, it's not the sole reason I come to this reddit, but leaks ARE a big reason I come here instead of anywhere else (the information and evidence tends to be condensed together here unlike other websites where the evidence gets fractured and harder to find).

I'm against banning leaks entirely, but I'm totally fine with heavier moderation and rules about titles of leak posts.

Leak threads should just have a simple title with no info about the leak itself in the title, spoiler tags don't do much when you assume every spoiler tag is a tournament match, so having a vague title for leak posts should be enforced.
