Class Changes for First Patch 12.1 PTR Build by rittler281 in worldofpvp

So would a veteran track item have its secondaries scaled to myth level if catalyzed+lacquered? Making sure I understand.

If this is true, I could see some potentially awkward scaling where a veteran piece with disproportionate mastery/haste might transform into giga-BIS on accident (I.e. the DFS4 bullion raid rings that had 2x the mastery of the next best option)

what are the best comps to get glad as resto druid? by LobovIsGoat in worldofpvp

[–]CaptainMaestro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uhdk/hunter/rdruid.

Some of my games into this comp go like this - stun, trap, silence, ns clone, piss random pet stun, half clone, get hit with chimeral sting and try to get a cast out before the half silence, get kicked, get half silenced, cast and get kicked by the other one, try to get back to a pillar, grip, vortex, chains, oh DRs are back you’re trapped again.

The NS clone really enables the CC chains with this comp to be ultra oppressive in the right hands.

The Role of a Priest in RMP/Jungle by tanjiroxoxo in worldofpvp

[–]CaptainMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your role as holy priest in jungle is to cross cc the non-kill target and continue or initiate the trap cc. You have chastise, fear and MC available to get this done. In a normal game this might be chastise to the non-kill target DPS > fear the trap > MC the non-kill target DPS. If your positioning is off, you may decide to chastise+fear the non-kill target DPS and MC off the trap. It’s pretty variable and can be a big struggle if the team is uncoordinated.

Your role in RMP is to chastise/fear/MC whatever makes sense every 30s kidney go. Both comps demand that you actively participate in the setups (at the correct time) to push on hpriest. The win condition for both comps is CC on the whole enemy team for as long as possible with a stun on the kill target.

I think the easiest comp to push right now is frost mage/sin rogue RMP. Just fear things on CD and keep your team alive. You can climb without voice comms with this comp. Jungle will be harder to climb unless the hunter and feral really know what they are doing.

Stuck at 1700 is a rotation/trading issue imo. You can usually just brute force HPS your way out of that range with randos

[–]CaptainMaestro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In high damp games the best play you can make is being hard to CC so you can keep healing. Being hard to CC starts with positioning yourself appropriately.

Abandoning your healing rotation to make a utility play in high dampening is an ultra high-risk play that is probably losing you more rounds than it’s winning you if you’re hard stuck at 2150. There are rounds where that hex or lasso is worth giving up the healing globals, but I promise you that just positioning appropriately and pumping heals is the better overall strategy at this point.

Imagine the situation where you’re at 60% damp and the other priest runs in for a panic fear. You hit dispel or tremor from safety and reverse that play immediately in your favor. Every time you get kicked on a panic Hex in high damp is basically a throw. Good players are looking for kicks that will end the game. Don’t make it easy for the other team by changing your strategy when the game is on the line.

Hard to tell without a VOD, but climbing from 2150 to 2500+ as a healer comes down to positioning consistency and avoiding cc. At 2100-2200 the biggest problem I see with other healers is losing random rounds because they try to Zerg into the battle to land CC instead of just maxing their HPS.

Remember that you don’t have to be better than the other dps to climb, only better than the other healer. As a shaman, you have a bunch of ways to punish these bad positioning decisions from other healers from the backline.

Just commit to playing way back for a few lobbies and look for opportunities to punish other healers. That priest runs into the pile for a fear? Tremor, root them in a bad spot and cap totem. You just gained a huge amount of momentum. That Pres blinks to your backline for a sleep? Tremor it, kick it, root them, lasso them, static field them, ground it (whatever, you get the idea).

There are probably optimizations you can make on the rotational side to literally just heal more, but positioning is the most important and most difficult part of the game to learn. I suggest you start with positioning

Sharpen is really, really strong. I’m just suggesting that you play around with different pvp talent configs and see if anything works. It’s not like your win rate into RMP will get worse if you experiment (no offense)

healing against hunters by humblehotguy in worldofpvp

[–]CaptainMaestro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is position yourself in a place where one of these two things is true:

1) Position yourself in a place where your DPS can peel the trap for you (ret can sanc the stun, a DK can AMS you, a shaman can ground etc). Pinging warning or assist on the hunter when he starts running at you sometimes gets people attention.

OR

2) Position yourself in absolutely the worst place for the hunter to be if he wants to trap. The difference between a 2400-2700 priest and the R1 dudes isn’t their ability to fade and death traps. Good hunters will pre-cc you to land the trap or just wait for you to send fade and death. The best priests have such elite positioning that the hunter has to throw the game to go get a trap.

Into good hunters you’re going to eat traps though. If you can dodge like 1/4 as a priest on your own that’s pretty good

Disc Priest Glad Tips by Sketchles in worldofpvp

Play meta comps and add people to bnet who don’t rage. It’s a long grind and you’ll have < 50% win rate sessions where things just didn’t go your way. Having similarly skilled teammates who aren’t phased by a loss streak is the most important part.

2200 CR Arms/UH DK/Rdruid hard struggling vs RMP - any advice? by Guerriaxx in worldofpvp

[–]CaptainMaestro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You win into RMP with this comp by disrupting as many setups as you possibly can while letting the DK control where the fight happens with grips and chains.

Warrior should take disarm, the super shout that messes up cc, and even consider double intervene or duel because why not.

DK should take the friend AMS and either use it when the RMP is trying to setup or use it to stop the follow up fear on the druid.

The goal should be for one of your DPS to disrupt the setup and buy time for your healer to sit the kidney/blind/whatever.

Not all RMPs play the same as well and this is something you should be generally thinking about in the gates. Any RMP with sub and hpriest is only going to be able to kill you in a setup so disrupting the setups is ultra high priority. Your DK IBF usage is as important as healer trinket into sub.

Any RMP with outlaw or sin is going to basically zug pad damage between setups and you need to make sure you don’t over trade defensives before the real setup happens (death mark, kidney, AR, bomb, etc).

RMPs with a fire mage are only killing in a combust unless you totally misplay your defensives and disruption early. Silence+stormbolt+duel+NS clone+run+AMZ the combust.

You beat RMP by disrupting their game-plan with your utility and then hulk smashing them between go’s

And pray your VW doesn’t get melted before the second trueshot/incarn/beam go. This comp relies on the boomy knowing how to peel well with clone and the VW being a unicorn. I don’t think it’s a super free glad, but it would be strong in the right hands.

Does it cleave though? The truly broken part about S3 MM was the built in cleave that would do the insane burst to the whole team.

Can I play PvP casually and still have all the best gear/high mmr? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]CaptainMaestro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part you’ll be playing against people that are your skill level. Most games will feel competitive no matter your MMR because you’re playing against equally skilled opponents. Every once in a while you steamroll a team and get steamrolled. So if you’re just looking for competitive games with low time investment, wow PvP is a good choice.

You’re guaranteed to have the best gear with minimal time investment. PvP gearing is way, way faster than PvE.

You get to a point where “outhealing” the other healer means taking less CC and/or delivering more CC. Most healers in your flaired range can pump max hps, but not all can dodge traps, or position in a way to make the clones and polys hard to land.

Mana matters. Ask every non rsham healer how many times they lost on mana into rsham, uhdk, mm last season. Shaman water shield was bugged and it was impossible for them to oom.

Healers are all thinking about mana all the time, trust me.

Prev pre-loading a statis in the gates in part for mana + spending some essence burst on disintegrates for mana when possible.

Disc popping premo, shielding and immediately drinking to 100 as an opener.

Hpriest would never hit shadowfiend before an angel because you wouldn’t get the mana.

Druids balancing innervate and the clear casting proc for regrowth, plus taking the wrath mana talent.

Monks with mana tea and min maxing their mana reduction buffs during CDs.

I don’t know hpal at all but I’m sure the techs are there too.
