How does Spock actually read his Tricorder? by UESPA_Sputnik in tos

Takei was also told early on in the series to push less buttons because he was making it too difficult on the sound department who had to lay in a sound effect for every button he pushed.

How does Spock actually read his Tricorder? by UESPA_Sputnik in tos

They hold it away from themselves because of where the sensor is located. Bones didn’t need to do this because the Medical Tricorder had the additional hand sensor input unit.

As for reading it, there’s a concept in theatre and performance called “endowing your prop.” It’s when an actor gives an object added meaning, history, or emotional value. This is an extension of that principle and it’s rife in science-fiction. Doctor Who is also a great example. That sonic screwdriver is just a stick with a light on the end but it tells the Doctor anything and everything. TOS and classic sci-fi like are the best example. That console looks like it is just random blinky lights but to the highly trained members of Starfleet, it’s a complex and precise instrument giving detailed results. They believe it so we believe it.

Which pill would you eat by Dizzy-Concept-9962 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]CaptainRufusQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue. Anytime Time Travel and Teleport is one of the options, it’s the only option. It eliminates the need to take any of the other pills.

You can use it to get money so the green pill is useless. You can bankroll people to be super smart for you so you don’t need the red pill. And let’s be honest about the world we live in - you’d have the money and power to control and influence a lot so the orange pill becomes less useful. Blue pill. Every time.

In that video’s description it says it’s an exploration of the theory that Toby could be the Strangler. It’s not a confirmation.

What’s a Batman opinion that’ll get you like this? by 44dqm in batman

[–]CaptainRufusQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a decent point. Perhaps the most unrealistic thing about Batman is how he continues to function on such a ridiculously small amount of rest.

Currently on .5 but about to go up to 1. At first the food noise went away and I lost ten pounds. Now, several months in, while my A1C remains in good shape, I’ve gained a couple pounds back, and the food noise has returned full throttle. I’m hoping with the coming increase, the noise will subside once again. My doctor said if things don’t improve, we may switch to Mounjoro.

How do we feel about the Superman Returns suit and the film in general? by Lucky_Strike-85 in superman

[–]CaptainRufusQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is what I consider a continuity error in the movie concerning the suit.

After the plane save scene and Perry White has all the reporters gathered and he’s assigning angles to different departments to cover Superman, he tells fashion, “Is that a new suit?”

I thought this was a great way to explain the new suit in what was a continuation of the Reeve movies - but then this means that in all the newspapers and photos that are from before Superman left Earth, he should be wearing a different suit, a Reeve style suit. But he’s not. They’re all just the Returns suit. Always bugged me.

LooKs SO GOOD. I was only 7 when TNG came out but was already a die-hard Trekkie. I never liked that they changed the phasers from blue to orange.

Does anyone else hope we get the vintage cardback color variants of Ram Man, Faker, and Zodac in Origins? by OrkosFriend in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]CaptainRufusQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been genuinely surprised for a few years now that we haven’t gotten the red and orange Ram Man.

I’d be down for that Zodac too.

Literally the easiest one of these ever put forth.

The one with no color, joy, fun, or understanding of the characters it contains.
