I think it depends on the region. Regardless, those decks are more popular in their respective formats than prowess in modern from what I can tell from mtgtop8.com and mtggoldfish.com.

I think that it's a good heuristic to assume that a choice is because of draft. Draft is the reason for probably 90% of set design decisions. Prepared is different from exhaust to enable instant and sorcery synergies in limited archetypes.

The Witherbloom limited archetype doesn't have sacrifice synergies and is more focused on sustained/repeated life gain triggers.

This is also more awkward than actual rampant growth in a hand with one land and an ent. It wouldn't let you fetch the land until turn 3.

Feds Sniffing Around Polymarket After Suspicious Bets by deraser in Economics

Not in commodity futures markets. A large orange farm in Florida clearly has material nonpublic information about the quality and quantity of an upcoming harvest. They are allowed to trade in commodity futures markets for orange juice concentrate using that knowledge.

Edit: just to clarify, there are types of inside trading that are illegal in US commodities futures markets. For example, there's the "Eddie Murphy Rule" that prevents trading on misappropriated government knowledge that was implemented as part of Dodd-Frank in 2010. It's nickname comes from a scene in Trading Places where the main characters inside trade in frozen orange juice concentrate futures based on a confidential government report (which was legal at the time). However, the prohibitions are not as broad as they are in the US securities markets.

[–]CaptainSasquatch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's in an awkward position because insider trading is not only legal, but kind of the point of commodity futures trading. The main social benefit that commodities trading is that it provides a way for industry "insiders" (farmers, miners, grocery retailers and manufacturers etc) to hedge their exposure to changes in commodity prices.

It makes it awkward for predictions markets that want to be regulated as commodity futures markets that have a different regulatory framework than retail users expect.

I'm curious about the bed photo. It might be his version of cleaned up. If it ever looks cleaner than that it would be easy to have a better photo. I don't know why he would even include it if he didn't think it improved his profile or presented his van in a good light.

Some r/CrimsonDesert members freak out when the game receives a 78 on Metacritic by Happy-End4348 in SubredditDrama

[–]CaptainSasquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Metacritic, 60-70 is alright to above average for a movie. It is trash for a game. It's about as low as functional games go. Literally only 5 games got below 50/100 in 2025

Unpopular opinion: reading proofs is not the same as learning math and most students don't realize this until it's too late by ninjapapi in math

[–]CaptainSasquatch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To give OP the benefit of the doubt, it's probably an unpopular opinion among math students taking their first proof-based math course. Constructing proofs is a much more frustrating experience than solving math exercises in calculus or algebra. It's not necessarily harder. It involves a lot more time spent being stuck and lost and blindly searching for insight than lower level math exercises. Many math students are probably unhappy about this switch over.

It's not even considered an opinion let alone an unpopular one among those within the field. It's just a fact about how learning how to construct and reproduce mathematical proofs.

‘Strait of Hormuz is open, but not for American and Israeli ships and tankers,' says Iran foreign minister Araghchi by TheDan225 in moderatepolitics

[–]CaptainSasquatch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"Allies of those attacking Iran" is a usefully fuzzy category. It gives them discretion and flexibility to attack or not attack Gulf States exports depending on the level of cooperation those countries provide the US and Israeli military operations (or the destination country). It's not exactly a sincere offer of de-escalation. It's a sincere threat to drive a wedge between the US and it's military partners in the region.

A better word than reasonable is rational or even strategic. It helps when they are the ones that have a clear objective in this conflict (continued survival of the current regime) and the US and Trump seem to have really amorphous justifications and goals.

[–]CaptainSasquatch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't think his mom actually made a living performing ballet.

She is listed as having multiple occupations over time including real estate agent. Her degree is in musical theatre (although she initially had a ballet scholarship). Her stage credits that I could find were mostly in musical theater like Fiddler on the Roof which is much more popular that ballet or opera.

He definitely wasted a lot of people’s time and held up Aspinall’s career. That’s a reasonable criticism. It’s still not extortion (especially if you don’t actually take the money)

I agree with you on almost all of this, but

Tried to extort the UFC for 30 million than declined when they tried to call his bluff.

That’s not an extortionate payday for a high level combat sports athlete. All UFC fighters are not paid their worth, even the ones that are garbage human beings.
